Wireless dead on dir-825 router
« on: April 29, 2011, 07:04:04 AM »

Just for no reason that I know of the wireless stopped working.  I can can connect to the SSID fine and there seems to be good signal strength, but no wireless internet access.

I have up to date February 15, 2011 firmware, 205NA, hardware version = B1
I have done a reset with no luck
I have done a 30/30/30 factory reset = no luck

Thanks for any assistance

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand alone or built in router?

Can you connect to the ISP modem direct and get Internet?
Any other devices connect to the WiFi exhibit the same issue?
After doing a factory reset, set up the WiFi for Single mode G with out any security to test. Make sure you are getting Internet over wired connection first. Then test the WiFi on single mode G at 2.4Ghz with out any security and test. If you get any Internet, then go back and turn on security, WPA2, Auto TPIK/AES or AES only. Test again.

Any other WiFi in the area? Make sure you are connecting to your own SSID. Name it something unique.

Let us know.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? - No Modem, Fiber Optic.  There is a fiber optic box in our heater room

Stand alone or built in router? - Stand Alone

Can you connect to the ISP modem direct and get Internet? - No modem, wired network is fine

Any other devices connect to the WiFi exhibit the same issue? - They all do

Ans: Both bands have this issue, even with no security.

Any other WiFi in the area? Make sure you are connecting to your own SSID. Name it something unique.
Ans: No other wifi in my area called by my SSID name.  made sure I was connected to what I think I am connected to.

Ok then, and these wireless devices do work on other wifi networks I presume. Just want to make sure the devices are working correctly themselves.

I might do this,
Do a factory reset.
Re-upload FW.
Factory reset once more
Test WiFi once more. If this still fails then I guess it's off to RMA. Let us know.

I have already done the Factory reset a few times, does not help.

I guess I will call support and send it back.

Thanks

I would try the factory reset with the FW update though.
Keep us posted on what happens. Gook luck.

My Linksys wireless died after a few years, at which point I got the DIR-825.  Everything else worked on the Linksys, except the wireless.

How old is your DIR-825?

If you can't seem to get the WiFi going again seamlessly, then I would do an RMA soon. Let us know how it goes.
