TotalRecovery Pro 7 bundled software
« on: May 02, 2011, 08:44:30 AM »

Per the sticky, I entered the code from the driveclone software and got a link and code to download Farstone's TotalRecovery Pro 7 software.

The software works fine when I create a backup job to the dns-321 and have it "start now". (can restore files, etc.)

What I can't get to work is scheduling a backup to the nas.
My home network is set up as a workgroup.  The NAS is also set to the workgroup.  The backup software when setting up a schedule for a backup job insists on having a username/password for network access (even though it does not need/want it for backup jobs that are not on a schedule).
I have the network logon box unchecked in the scheduling configuration but it still pops up a window asking for log in information.  I can not get by this part of the program.  I've tried every combination of username, password, workgroup name, etc that I can think to try.  Any ideas??

I've sent two emails to Farstone support in the last two weeks.  Then I sent three additional emails to their ticketsupport address if you don't hear from them on an original email.  They have not sent any responses to either the two original support inquiries or to the three emails to ticketsupport.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you.

I think I've given up on getting a reply back from Farstone.  6+ emails and nothing.

At this point, I'll take any advice for what software will work best with a home network backing up to the DNS-321 with 2TB set as raid 1. (either pay of free).

Thank you!

Sorry about the lack of support. I actually know this prompt well. What it is asking for is the username and password to your PC not the nas. The reason for this is that if your computer is locked at the time of the schedule it wont be able to run so it requests your computers information in order to execute.

I have also run into the same issue on my DNS-320.  The Dialog Box being referred to here assumes everyone has a UserName and Password and makes vague statements about adding in a Domain Name.  My local computers are on a home network and we don't have PWs (yes I know - poor security - but its our home wired network - I'll take the chance thank you).  It will not accept leaving these fields blank, the username with blank PW fields, AND the Workgroup name/Username with blank PW fields, none of these work.

How do we get around this prompt or is there a very specific Syntax for the Workgroup/Username that I am missing that would allow me to get through this?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Jon
