Why does D-ViewCam run full-screen and not in a window?
« on: May 03, 2011, 05:27:15 AM »

I find it annoying that when I have D-ViewCam running I can't see my desktop icons, desktop gadgets.

I'd like to keep it running to watch the camera, but have a tiny window in the corner of my screen, not fill my entire screen. Is there any way to do this?

 ???

In one word: No... Sorry, has been like that from V3 onward. Latest V2.0 versions had some options around this, but no more...

Is there any other viewer software that can be used to view the DCS-930L?

D-Link engineers are idiots.

You can use HTML, or find another IP-cam viewer. None for the price you are paying now: Free...

I have not yet find a good and free viewer with same options. So I have a dedicated computer, with remote playback and live viewer services switched on... But I need to record multiple cams, and there is what most free ip-cam viewers restrict you on. For 1 camera there are some options, but I have looked some time ago, so my info is not up-to-date...
Happy hunting for a viewer!

I found this free to download and use: iSpy surveillance software
It will run in any size window you want.  It can be resized.

To use my D-Link DCS-930L    I Rt. click / add camera.. Use tab for MJPEG URL
Name: (for my address "101" Camera; change to yours)
http://192.168.0.101/mjpeg.cgi   You will need to enter the camera's:  admin / password
Sound is: http://192.168.0.101/audio.cgi

Great find. I tested this application last night and it works flawlessly. This is a perfect (and highly preferable) alternative to the D-Link application and web browser viewing.  The application also supports multiple cameras.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I came across this and it was super helpful.
This iSpy software is GREAT.  (Dear D-Link, TAKE SOME NOTES!)
It is so feature rich.  I am confused on how to add the audio stream to the video.
I tried to add microphone, but can't figure out where to add the URL for it.
Everything I have tried does not result in success.

Thanks.

OK, figured this out on my own.
Need to have the VLC plugin in the VLC directory of iSpy.
All is well!
Thanks again for all the tips on this.
The D-link Desktop app is TERRIBLE compared to this.
