DIR-615 and Browser freezing/Stalling
« on: May 06, 2011, 05:42:59 PM »

Advice please! My router is connected directly to my modem. I only have this problem on my actual PC [iphone is fine]. Randomly, FF [and even chrome] will freeze/stall. It's SO FRUSTRATING. It's only since I've added the router and I'm at my wits end.

Please advise me how to correct this if possible!

Thx

Stalls? Like you can't close it? Sounds like a PC issue. More info?

Nope. It'll freeze if changing between tabs, scrolling down a page, clicking a link (like to get to this topic) etc. Firefox and Chrome both do this, but have only done it since the router has been installed. If I turn the router OFF.... everything runs fine.

When I say stall or freeze, I mean it lags. It'll just freeze for 10 -30 seconds and then resume. If you have FF you'll know what I mean, as it goes into "not responding" mode at the top header of the browser and blocks out all usage until it fixes itself.

It does this EVERY few minutes randomly when I am using the browser (not randomly when no one is using). I am getting REALLY irritated! And don't know what I can do, in the router settings to help!

Yea, thats your PC. No doabt about it. Sounds like you have some sort of infection or something. And probably when the router is in place the firewall is interrupting the traffic from the infection, causing it to resend the data, eating up system resources and lagging your PC. Check your logs. I bet your going to find some crazy stuff. And run some scans. Malwarebytes FTW!

I don't have any viruses/malware/spyware on my computer at all. I've scanned my computer with my own program, as well as trend micro and it is fine.
