Registration of DIR-655
« on: May 28, 2011, 08:38:53 PM »

I have recently purchased six quantities of DIR-655 for my home use. When I registered them these six product, at the end of each registration, I got the message that I will get an email confirming the registration.

I didn't get any email. I have checked my email span box and filter too.

Any help will be appreciated?

Many thanks,

Also, I bought these six DIR-655 from Newegg.com. My sister-in-law tells me that all of these have the A/C adapter with 120v only. I plan to use these in my home in Oman, where the A/C is 220/240v.

I don't have the DIR-655 physically with me yet. I will have them sometime in mid-July.

What should I do about the A/C adapters.

Would D-Link exchange these for 220/240 or 110-240?

Or, I need to buy new ones.

This is what I found at eBay.com

Many thanks,

Your sister in law is incorrect as the power supply is a universal type with an input rating of 100 to 240.

Hi Cobra,

Thank you for your reply.

After purchasing, I read a review on Amazon.com, someone claiming that the USA model comes with a power supply of 120v only. So, I asked her to open each box and check the power supply. This is what she wrote about each of them along with their serial numbers.

Power adapter 100-120V

Is your unit bought in USA?

Can anyone please confirm what Cobra has confirmed?

Kind regards and many thanks,

aladdin

I have an A3 unit and the adapter says 100-240 input.

Now the B units may only come with a 120 adapter but I just know what mine came with.

Dear Cobra,

Thank you once more for your kind response. I have again checked with her this morning (Oman Time), about the power adapters. She confirmed again that they are all six power adapters are 100-102v. And, they all Rev DIR-655, which I presume that they are Rev A, rather than Rev B.

1. Why would they still sell Rev A?

2. Is doesn't seem that there is any support for the product sold?

Note: I can't even register. I sent them an email about not receiving the registration emails. They replied and asked me to call 1-877-453-5465. Toll-free numbers cannot be called from regular phones outside the USA. So, I had to fire up my VPN and call through Skype. Always the connection is bad and hard to communicate. I was told to leave my home phone number and they will call back. Explained to them that I am presently not in USA, and these products were purchased in USA and shipped to USA. Eventually, they asked me to call 1-800-326-1688 ext. 6314. I have to wait and call during working hours, and due to Memorial weekend, I couldn't do it on Monday.

Your Case ID is C04902428

Products: DIR-655

3. It doesn't seems to be any D-Link support on this forum?

Note: If there is one than I need one of the Moderator and/or Support Staff to please help me?

Best regards,

I would recommend checking out the EU Spec 655 router for you needs as I presume they do come with a fully qualified 220/240 adapter. I would ask others in the EU Forums as I'm sure someone would be able to give you the details.
