WebDAV Setup

I can currently access my 325 via FTP both locally and remotely. I am attempting to access the 325 using WebDAV and have had terrible luck. It keeps telling me not found. The idea is to have clients upload files to me and download files using WebDAV rather than FTP. Could anyone please offer some hints on how to set this up? I have WebDAV checked both for the user and the access share.

Glad I'm not the only one...MAC compatibility appears to be sketchy at best. This device will more than likely be returned.

That seemed to connect me to the NAS Steve but now I get a "404-Not Found" error? any clues? This is the furthest I've been to connecting using webdav.

Should I be able to connect just using a regular browser or only through a "connect to server" command?

Hi again,

I've got this tutorial about webdav from the d-link team last week:

It works for me like a charm! :)
It is in German but there are a lot of images so you should be able to follow it.
It uses HTTPS and not http and for windows 7 you need an external webdav client like bitkinex.
Furthermore you should use the "map a network drive" option under Windows XP and Vista.

Thanks for pointing this out! The important changes I had to make compared to previously posted instructions were:
1) use the https: in URL
2) use the share name correctly. I.e if I had shared the folder Volume_1/priit as a share priit then the working URL for WebDAV share looks like this:
https://192.168.0.99/webdav/priit (and not .../webdav/Volume_1 or .../webdav/Volume_1/priit).
It works like charm with both OS X and iPad.

If it's the HTTPS protocol then 443 obviously. Also maybe 80 for HTTP access.

Finally got it to work!!! but...I have my client able to mount the drive on his desktop(MAC) but he cannot write files to the drive. I mounted drive myself here and also was unable to write files to the drive. I can see the file that was written is there but it is 0kb.

error message:
 "The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "(filename)" can't be read or written.
(Error code-36)

I get this for any file regardless of type and or size on both ends.

WebDAV permissions are set separately. Have you granted WebDAV read/write access to the user and are you signing in as that user?

I did give us permissions to read/write. What is really strange is that it works fine on a Win XP machine accessing the drive through WebDAV. I logged in to another machine half way across the country and was able to set them up for WebDAV access to my NAS.

Yup. Got it working on DNS-320, using Win7 and Bitkinex. Thanks a million!

Edit: I first gave a test account full privileges. After removing them and giving access only to 1 subfolder in Volume_1, he still can use webdav to access everything....

I'm also having the same issue with Mountain Lion. Can anyone else confirm they have WebDav working with Mountain Lion?
