I'm a wireless newbi and been using a DGL-4100 router since 2007 with a Motorola SB6120 modem and haven't loss a signal from Comcast Cable since installed.  I subscribe to economy internet speeds, but may request faster speeds some day.  I bought an Ipad and need a wireless network to connect Ipad to router.  Would a DAP-1360 adaptor be compatible with my DGL-4100 router? or, any other suggestion?  I realize my present modem/router are near end of life.

With a friend's advice, I recently bought a DIR-615 wireless router, but after reading D-Link forum on DIR-615 and weak signal reception, I don't have the guts to set it up.  I have about 20 days left to ship back DIR-615 to Amazon and purchase a more reliable D-Link wireless product.  Any advice from your experts would be appreciated by this 70 y/o neophyte.  Thanks,  George

It should be just find between the 4100 and the 1360. I haven't use one of those yet however it should work just find by adding it as an AP to the 4100 since it never had Wifi, ur just adding it to the line and the 4100 will provide it with internet and the 1360 will broadcast it to your WiFi devices.

The 4100 is at end of life however if your just using it for general internet and such. It will be great for a long time. The SB6120 isn't at end of life yet and is a great modem. I just got mine last year and just upgraded from 10Mb to 50Mb however I game and such. Hehe.

The 1360 should be a good addition to the 4100. Keep us posted on what you do.

I appreciate your input, Furry.  I plan to buy the DAP1360 after returning the DIR-615 to Amazon.  I think this adaptor will be more stable with my DGL-4100.  And since you mentioned you just acquired a SB6120, I went back and checked my model.  Yep, my poor eyesight failed me again.  It is a SB5120 modem which I've had the past four years.  I will keep it until there is a good reason to change.  Again, thanks for your help!  George

Ok, keep us posted and hope it all work well. Ya, if the cable modem is working then should work well for until something else comes up.

I would think that they would compliment each other as the 4100 does not have wireless and is a router only.

Let us know what you decide. If your looking for a good router, the 4500 is a great router for gaming and general Internet. You also need to figure out how far you need the wireless to go as in distance. What are your wireless needs? What devices do you have and what do they support? G or N, anything 5Ghz support?

What are your Internet needs? Any streaming, gaming or just general email and surfing. Just remember, these are home routers and not meant for large business. They could probably handle a small business with a small number of PCs.
