That is the rate that the device is currently connecting at, it may increase if needed or it may not because it cannot increase because it is not supported. Since your xbox is wired you already know that it is connecting at 100Mbps since the cable is cat 5 if the cable is cat6 it will be 1000Mbps depending if the xbox NIC supports speeds of up to 1000Mbps. Hope this helps

So a cat6 cable will make it faster if the NIC is supported on my xbox? Oh and how do i know if my NIC is supported? And are you sure there isn't a way for my xbox 360 rate to go up? I mean my laptop's rate is twice as much... Shouldn't my xbox be just as high if not higher? I thought this was a gaming router...

Let me teach you some basic networking that will help you in the long run. I can tell that you are not familiar on how a network works to no offense to you sir. More speeds from the router does not equal to better speeds on the internet, they only would allow you those speeds in the LAN (Local area network) meaning inside your network, WAN (Wide area network) is a network that consist of multiple computers connected not inside your house. So you have a router and a modem, your ISP gives you a modem with a certain amount of speed based on the plan you have with them. Most likely their plan won't allow you to go even close to 100Mbps so you don't need that speed from your router.

In fact most of USA connections are below 50Mbps with most of the users on a 10Mbps and below. People who seek speeds of up to 1000Mbps are only those who want to transfer big file between computer inside their Lan, we are talking about big files being transfer in seconds or to simply stream a lot of movies to multiple Pc's in their household. I hope this gives you a general understanding on why gigabit routers exist.

In the box your xbox came in it should have the spec or google around for xbox 360 specs they. Or simply tell me the model you have. the 20Gb. 60Gb etc or the new Xbox slim model

The 360 xbox line only support 100mps LAN connections max. There is no Gb connections on xbox so the router will set it for 100Mbs. If your not seeing that on the xbox or router, I would check the cabling and swap out or get new cables. Cat6 is preferred regardless of connection speed however Cat5e is minimum required. Test a different xbox to see if your seeing the same problems or not.

The only way to get an xbox to connect at a faster connection speed would be to get the xbox 5Ghz WiFi adaptor, I got mine at Best Buy, set the router for single mode N @5Ghz only and the xbox wifi adaptor will connect at 300Mbs.

How much was the adapter? Oh and if I do buy it and the xbox 360 connect at 300mbps does this mean the connection at 300mbps would be better than wired?

Its all about the bottle neck. It doesn't matter if you had a Billion Mbps transfer rate to the router, if your connection rate from the modem to XBL is only 5 or 10Mbps, it would make anything worse. And given the transfer-rate controls the way the data is transferred, it could actually make it worst.  If your streaming from your PC to the Xbox, then yes, look into what Furry is talking about. If your just trying to get a better connection to Xbox live, go wired. And go wired to the modem first. Your not going to get any faster then that. Period. Unless your having problems at the ISP level or you can upgrade your service with them.

So if I get the wireless N network adapter for the xbox 360 it should give the xbox 360 around 300mbps or somewhere around there correct? If I don't use 5ghz and just use 2.4ghz is there a difference between the adapter and the built in wifi of my xbox 360 slim 4gb?

In order to achieve speeds of up to 300Mbps the adapter must support 802.11n which the xbox slim does support. Also as I said before, those speeds are only in LAN. higher Mbps does not equal to faster transfer rate only bigger file transfer rate. Also if your xbox is not reporting a connection of 300Mbps on wireless try changing the wireless mode to N and G only via the router configuration page. Hope this helps and always remember wireless is not the best way to game.

If you use G and N only on 2.4Ghz then the highest speed you can attain on the xbox using it's own wireless card is 130-150Mb. I do recommend using wired connection for gaming if you can man. Lessons the headaches of using wireless.
