error code 36 when transferring files

Hopefully there is an option i have not yet found.

I download movies and transfer them to my DNS-323, at least I want to.

I am using a macbook with Lion and my DNS was formatted ext3 with a 2TB and 1TB drives in JBOD.

I am trying to transfer 5+ GB files and eventually get the error code 36 error.

I have tried the dot_clean method in terminal, pressing option while I transfer and created a folder in the DNS and then copied back to mac desktop and then back to NAS, no luck.

My last resort (of which I found on the internet) was wipe my HDD and do a clean install.

Can anyone please offer any other solutions?  My ultimate goal is to be able to download any movie format, transfer to my NAS and then play those files from the DNS thru a popcorn hour.

I am not tech savy, so dumbed down tech talk would be appreciated.
