Dir-615 C1 Unable to Upgrade Firmwre
« on: August 05, 2011, 11:02:11 PM »

I have a DIR-615 Ver. C1 f/w3.00. We have been having trouble with the the signal becoming weak or non-existent, so I decided to see if a firmware upgrade would solve the problem. I have attempted to upgrade to DIR615C1C2_FW301B11.bin and to DIR615C1_FW313NAB09.bin with the same result for both of them - with several attempts for each.

The message I get is:
"The uploaded firmware file may not be correct. You may have uploaded a file that is not intended for this device, or the uploaded file may be corrupted.

If the uploaded file is correct, it is possible that the device may be too busy to properly receive it right now. In this case, please try the upload again. It is also possible that you are logged in as a 'user' instead of an 'admin' - only administrators can upload new firmware.

The Gateway will not be reprogrammed."

I have disconnected all other devices to reduce traffic, I have attempted the upload multiple times for 3.01 and 3.13NA, I am logged in as the admin, and I believe the files are proper for this hardware version.

Is there something I am missing that prevents me from performing a firmware upgrade?

IT's recommended to trouble shoot the problem before doing FW updates and most FW updates only effect features and not operation.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?
Turn off QoS options.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA2 and Cipher type to AES only if your device support this.

I'm having the same problems with my sisters router also. Also the file he is referring to is in the .zip file. so try again. I'm having same exact issues 100% So seem the file issue is D link not us. D link then needs to make sure the file is correct that were needing to download.

Is there a reason for the FW upgrade? I recommend trouble shooting before FW updates.

Well since the 3.13 firmware didn't work, i was able to upload 3.12 and get the router working now. Well my sister had gotten this router RevC-1 with F/W 3.01 and she has AT&T DSL which is PPPoE and when she first got it it would connect and disconnect about every 30 seconds and back then you guys didn't have any new F/W updates and so the router was put in the closet till a couple of days ago when she found it. So she had called me and i told her i would look to see if you guys had some updates and you did. Unfortunately the 3.13 didn't want to load as per the other post from the other person above. But got 3.12 to upload and got the router up and running and configured. Only bad thing right now is for some reason Facebook doesn't like to load up though the router. So i took the router offline and hooked her computer up straight to the modem again and Facebook works fine. Have no idea whats up this?? But other websites seem load up ok. Even tried different browsers too. Same results.
