OK, one last try before boxing up my new DIR-655 and taking it back to Microcenter. I've opened a case via email and got the standard response, below.

I have a Dlink DP-300U print server that works fine with my 'old' Belkin router, a F5D-7230-4 wireless unit. Nothing wrong with the Belkin, I'm just getting some service drops from my lousy AT&T ifitl 1.5mbps ISP and thought a new router might help.

I actually read the manual (!!) before installing the DIR-655 and even followed it. The print server just isn't visible on the network. Everything else is, though. The 'suggestions' from Dlink tech support below are very helpful. If I could 'see' the print server to verify its IP address, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I've rebooted everything, several times and even reinstalled my old Belkin router (which always sees the print server.)

Dlink tech support sems to be non-existent, or at best MIA, so I thought I'd try the forum.

And Dlink, no...I'm not interested in paying you $32.95 for up to a half hour to maybe fix a problem caused by your new device. And dropping my call after almost 15 minutes on hold is not cool, either. Shame on you!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
With reference to the issue you are facing, we suggest you to kindly ensure that the IP address assigned to DP-300U print server is in the same network range as that of your DIR-655.

NOTE: The default IP address of DIR-655 is 192.168.0.1

Once it is done, try to ping the IP address of DP-300U using any of the wired / wireless client connected to DIR-655.

Kindly note the DP-300U is not currently supported in North America. D-Link offers a premium fee based support line that will be able to support any issues you have with this product. For further information on this service please call up on 1-888-814-2882. Thank you for your understanding.

Kindly visit the link below and go through the FAQ's in order to modify the IP address of DP-300U

I presume that AT&T is DSL? Do you know if the modem has a built in router or is it stand alone?

If it has built in router, I recommend bridging it so that the 655 router gets a public IP address and you wont have any NAT issues. Having 2 routers on the same line causes connection issues.

Yes, it is stand alone, no router.

Hi,

If I recall, somebody posted here maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago with the same unit (or very close to it) and was able to get his to work....his Apple Mac could see both printers, but his Windows 7 PC's could only see 1 printer....something like that...

You have to set that up first by connecting it to a pc directly to set its IP and such....Then move it to the LAN...  I have a reserved IP for my print server (not same model as yours)...
