1.06 Degraded Status
« on: February 03, 2009, 04:38:26 PM »

Hello

I have 2 1TB Raid 1 drives, and I have noticed that since upgrading to 1.06 my Raid Status always goes to "Degraded" eventually.. I resyncronize the drives and it seems to work fine for a while saying "Completed", but after a few days it always shows degraded again.

I've pulled the data off, reformatted and reloaded the data hoping that would fix it.  It still goes degraded however.

Can you go to the status page and find the make & model number of the HDDs you're using?

Well, pretty much sounds like my issue also. Except, mine just acts weirder. I went from degraded (which i rebuilt and worked for a few days), to an automatic switch to Standard Individual Disks (worked for a few days), and right now both drives are just dead. I don't want to format anything yet until I get the time to backup with Knoppix. I am on firmware 1.06 also.

I have a pair of 1TB Seagate ST31000340AS, which I've recently upgraded the firmware on.

One more note, the LED's on the front of the 323 are both blue( even when the raid status shows degraded )

..that is exactly what I was going to suggest you do. :)

Just an idea, when you had the drives in your PC to flash the firmware, did you happen to run Seagate online diagnostics and take a look at the SMART data?

I take my statement back. After just simply restarting the NAS, the drives responded again. I will wait to see how long that lasts. Both lights were blue during degraded status and they are still blue now. I'm not sure why others are not getting the same issue. It's only when I upgraded to 1.06, this started.
