I picked up one of the refurb deals at CompUSA.com and I'm glad that I did.

I also have a DGL-4500 as my gaming router but man, this little 601 is one solid router!  I don't know how long it will handle our traffic (family of 4 often all online at same time) but I've been very pleased with it at only $14.99 plus shipping.

Setup was easy using the installation CD.  The only pain was that it reboots after every save.  You can't save and "reboot later" like you can on the DGL-4500.

It seemed like it ran warm at first and I'll have to monitor that.  I just checked it and it's cool, but not under much of a load now, either.

No buffering when watching youtube, no lag playing Black Ops on XBOX Live.  I am running it wired on XBL.

Here are my configurations so far:

Ha!  You rascal!  I am getting a bit of hang this morning on some websites but I don't know if it's the router or something else.  How do those settings look?

Bah, I spoke too soon.  Last night it was working great, but this morning after it went to sleep for 6 hours (set to turn off wireless at midnight and back on at 6 a.m.) Chrome and FoxNews isn't loading well.  CNN.com loads fine.  What do I need to check for web page loading?  Chrome isn't loading and sometimes hangs, FireFox and I.E. work ok.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, but I think it's a FlashPlayer issue.

Settings are great man. Do some testing on it, see how it holds up with everyone online at the same time and streaming and such. Let us know how it goes.

Robear, I streamed 3 devices at once, 2 Netflix and 1 youtube and not an issue.  So far this thing rocks!

I went back and flashed to original firmware and that Chrome/FoxNews.com issue seems to be gone.  I was also having issues with my YahooMail account but it looks good as well.

I flashed it with dd-wrt initially but it's such a complicated UI that I went back to D-Link firmware.  The test will be tomorrow morning because last night it was working well but this morning I got those weird Chrome issues.

It's not quite as fast with page loading as the 4500 but man, it's handling traffic well.

I did forward the ports for XBL and it has a nice feature that adds the port numbers for you.  I did it for my  XBOX, can I also do the same for my kids' XBOXes?

Try Opera instead of Chrome and see if you notice any differences.

OK, overall it's a decent router if your DGL-4500 goes down and you don't have a backup.

It seems to be a little glitchy with certain websites with Google Chrome and the newest firmware (1.02NA).  At first it works fine, then seems to lose steam with slow page loading or loading halfway.  On other websites it seems to work fine consistently.

Streaming never seems to be an issue, only general web surfing.  Gaming (wired) is fine also.  It doesn't have the wireless distance power of the 4500.

To be fair, I just tested it on my Lenovo G550 notebook.  It seemed to work fine on browsers other than Chrome, with the newest firmware but with the stock firmware (1.01NA) it was fine with all browsers.

Download speeds are decent (my plan is 12/1 with Charter cable), as is latency pings from 5-21, which is normal for me.

If I didn't have the 4500 to compare it to, I'd say it was a decent, entry router.  YMMV, of course.
