Since the release of firmware 1.03 it's been 8 months. Do I understand correctly that the device is no longer supported, and new firmware can not wait?

The DNS-325 is still supported by D-Link and is still in service (i.e. a "Live" product).

  • Suggestion for the list itself, possibly sort by topic/category? (Or separate into separate messages?)
  • Item: General - Recurring schedule for S.M.A.R.T. test. - Isn't this already fixed in 1.03? (It seems to be a valid option in mine.)
  • Re: schedule for S.M.A.R.T. test.I'd like to see multiple tests. Be able to test drive #1 separate from drive #2
  • System: Clear system log after sending via email, either after full or on schedule.

If I did this wrong, please accept my apologies.

  • In status screen, provide current fan speed, either RPM or Off/Low/Med/High. (ShareCenter -> System Status -> System Info)
  • GUI - Be able to close right hand side frame "Hints", etc. to increase usable space.
  • P2P - Possible option to significantly lower P2P tasks via schedule to preserve bandwidth during peak use hours.
  • System - Ability to activate/deactivate some features/applications via ssh cli style interface. (I know this is a can of worms and may not be directly an option.

That feature is basically already available. Almost.
On all screens, except the home screen, you can dismiss the right-hand frame by clicking on the button with question mark under the "Log out" link.

As you said, "Almost". Ideally, there should be a setting to permanently enable/disable the online help. Disabling the right-most frame is only valid for the current session. The extra mouse click and page refresh to disable the pane at the start of each session is frustrating to say the least.

BTW, this item is already on the list:

  • GUI - Control to change the default "Help" setting to "Hide" OR "Show" ("Hide": users must proactively click "?" to open help. "Show": Help is always visible)

    Added...  ;)

Already on list under "GUI"   :o

    • P2P - Possible option to significantly lower P2P tasks via schedule to preserve bandwidth during peak use hours.

Lower task priority or enable/disable based on a schedule?

    • System - Ability to activate/deactivate some features/applications via ssh cli style interface. (I know this is a can of worms and may not be directly an option.

    Added...  ;)

    • Suggestion for the list itself, possibly sort by topic/category? (Or separate into separate messages?)

The list is already (partially) sorted by topic/category (except for "General")

    • Item: General - Recurring schedule for S.M.A.R.T. test. - Isn't this already fixed in 1.03? (It seems to be a valid option in mine.)

    Updated list.  Thanks!  ;D

    • Re: schedule for S.M.A.R.T. test.I'd like to see multiple tests. Be able to test drive #1 separate from drive #2
    • System: Clear system log after sending via email, either after full or on schedule.

    Added...  ;)

Lower task priority or enable/disable based on a schedule?
Actually be able to lower the bandwidth being used by the P2P subsystem.

There's an option for setting limits on bandwidth used for P2P traffic (in/out), maybe there could be two levels of settings.

    We currently have:

Bandwidth Control:     Maximum Download Rate ###### (Kb/S)
                           Maximum Upload Rate   ###### (Kb/S)

Maybe we could have it configured so that clicking on a schedule "block" in the P2P calendar matrix will switch/rotate the entry through the settings "High" (the default) to "Low" to "Off".

Then the settings would allow a higher value for when we designate it as "off prime time" (or whatever you want to call it, night, etc.) and a more moderate value for busier times of the day and still being able to turn it off during peak usage times.

I suggest this as a change:

    Bandwidth Control:
High:             Maximum Download Rate ###### (Kb/S)
                      Maximum Upload Rate   ###### (Kb/S)

Low:              Maximum Download Rate ###### (Kb/S)
                      Maximum Upload Rate   ###### (Kb/S)

Another operational adjustment for the powers that be to consider...

I'd like to have a share created when adding a user (of course with an option/checkbox to not create the share too).

If I add a user "j.schmoe", I'd like to have it fill in the name of the share "j.schmoe" in the screen for me.

    User add:
                   Username: [j.schmoe________________]
                   Password: [xXxXxXxXxX______________]
           Confirm Password: [xXxXxXxXxX______________]

                    Comment: [Joseph Schmoe___________]

    Create Y/N: [X]   Share: [j.schmoe________________]

And, while we're at it, you have a user "Admin", there should be a share for that user.
