« on: September 04, 2011, 01:14:50 PM »

Hi,

i have a new BIG problem (different to my other post)... testing with remote backup option sending some files from one DNS-320 to other DNS-320 (i have two DNS-320) where im having all my files in one folder named "Time files") i have to terminate because an unless backup processes (see my other post) and i did delete the task, after that, went to the target DNS and i see that my old folders was no there!!!!

What happened??? what can i do to recover that folders and files?

This is my new priority problem... i did not backed up that folder.

How can i restore a folder deleted for the Backup processes... (i did no why was deleted)

Now i know that i did not have to choose remote backup to make a tranfer betwen one dns to the other in same network but the mistake are made... how can i resolve  this.

thanks for your advices Im a really newbye with this stuff.

Again sorry for my english

I think I already know the answer to this question, but did you enable the "recycle bin" functionality (which saves deleted items in a recycle bin folder for recovery)?

Moving forward, I strongly suggest you maintain a separate physical backup of your data. Additionally, I recommend you thoroughly test "how" the DNS-320 works while the HDDs do not have critical data, this way you can try different permutations of backup options and functionality to see how the unit behaves under different circumstances.

If you had enabled the "recycle bin", you would see a directory called "recycle bin" along with your other folders in the NAS HDD containing your deleted items. Unfortunately, if you did in fact delete the files, your only recourse would be be a third party software product capable of recovering deleted files from a HDD formatted using the EXT (i.e. Linux) filesystem.
