This is a major issue for me. I have a DWA-552 (two of them, this issue happened when using both cards) and a DGL-4300 gaming router.  I can't tell if it's the router or the wireless adapter's fault but here are the facts:

- Other devices connected to the router don't appear to lose connectivity (tivo, smartphone on wifi, xbox on ethernet)
- DWA-552 #2 using FW1.10 had the issue
- DWA-552 #1 using FW1.40 had the issue
- Occurred on Default Win7 drivers

Scenarios:
- I'll be chatting in IRC and I will get disconnected from all internet services but my wifi signal bar in Win7 shows no issues with connectivity.
- I will be in Teamspeak and I will notice signs of internet connectivity issues, then I will say "uh oh my internet is going to drop out" over Teamspeak and my mates will hear me say this but I will not be able to hear them. Shortly after: full disconnection

To regain internet connectivity, all I do is pull up the Win 7 wifi window and disconnect/connect. I do this over the course of 5 seconds, and all of my connectivity is restored and sometimes before interruption of services if I catch it quick enough.

So these are some very weird circumstances, I can't tell if it's the adapter itself, it's drivers, or the router (the router is brand new, as my DIR-825 completely failed recently).   I have just installed the 1.7 drivers available for the 552, so I am in the process of testing them. It usually happens 10-15 times a day, so I would be surprised if it doesn't happen within the next hour. I'll give these drivers a day and report my findings.
