I bought the 825 because it was the best reviewed router at the time (about a year ago).  Now I come to find that I have RevA which doesn't support IPv6.  Just tough #$@%! I guess for those of us who thought that DLink was the best around.  It would be ONE thing if there was a *different* model out to support IPv6, but to release the SAME model and just (basically) screw those of us stuck with RevA models, IMHO, is just wrong.  I wouldn't even have had a problem with a trade-in program.  It never occurred to me that someone would put out a dual-band that wasn't ready for IPv6.

My 825 is ~10 feet from my DWA-160 - no walls, no other electronics, nothing, and I basically get a garbage signal (never more than 65% on 5.0 - Channel 44), and not even any more than 85%, Channel 2, on 2.4 for that matter).

I hope that DLink can come up with something that resolves this, but seeing as how the RevA firmware hasn't been worked on in over a year, I have my doubts that anything will ever be done.

Otherwise, I have no choice but to switch to a brand like Cisco.

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area?

Maybe someone can review your routers settings with you using teamviewer.com. Its free and safe.

I'll post the specific settings for you.  Using G with one system and N (DWA-160) with the other.

Cordless phones are DECT6, not 5.8 or 2.4.  No other routers in the area.

Still doesn't help with the inability to use IPv6.  IMHO, that's an issue that DLink should address with an exchange program or something.

Some other things to try:
What FW version is currently loaded?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find these under Status/Device Info/Wan section.
Turn off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

If you really got to have IPv6 on a router, I would maybe buy a Rev B router and sell the Rev A on email or CL. I presume Dlink is not going to update the Rev A's at all. I would first make sure your ISP is support IPv6. Not a lot of them are currently and there are many other factors that contribute to IPv6 implemention and end user support. IPv4 isn't going away because IPs are running out. I have a Rev B router and not using IPv6, yet.

Ok, I read the sticky about the requirements for 300 speed - mine seems to be limited to 270 and I have all the settings as specified.

I am on cable, with an Arris TM502G modem (the ISP advises that it has pushed the latest firmware, as I was having an outtage the other day).

All other settings are as you have advised.

The 825 is paired with a DWA-160B with the latest driver installed.

I did notice that with the installation of the new driver, I no longer have the DLink configuration panel which showed me the channel and signal strength percentage.

For the network connection properties, I do have IPv6 installed/enabled, as well as Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver and Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder.  It is configured for DHCP on the system itself (Win7 x64 SP1).

For the driver, Radio On/Off is Enabled, as is SmartScan.

Interesting .... as I'm writing this, I saw the signal speed (in the Connection Status dialog box) briefly bounce to 300, then drop back to 270.  Though the Signal Quality *never* exceeds 4 out of the 5 bars.

Any assistance would be *greatly* appreciated

 I would disable Short GI and WMM Enable as well. 270Mb connections is common for the 5Ghz N only mode.

WMM Enable
Enabling WMM can help control latency and jitter when transmitting multimedia content over a wireless connection. In Other words, it's QoS for wireless. I have mine OFF.

Short GI
Using a short (400ns) guard interval can increase throughput. However, it can also increase error rate in some installations, due to increased sensitivity to radio-frequency reflections. If your don't have alot of other WiFi routers around, this can be turned off. I have mine off and seems to help with N mode.


Keep us posted. Maybe someone can help you review your router settings using teamviewer.com with you.

It was the Wireless Connection app - used to show in the systray (airwizsvc - something like that) - installed into a DLink folder.

inSSIDer v2 shows a steady -59db, max rate of 270, Channel 40+36 (not sure what that means)
