dpr-1260 does not reset to factory defaults
« on: February 07, 2009, 11:22:11 AM »

I have had my DRP-1260 working for some time without issue acting as a print server for two printers and a wireless bridge for another device.

I attempted to login to the web interface only to find that I had forgotten my password.

So I performed a factory reset, and ...

1-The wireless settings have changed so that I do not connect wirelessly to my network any more.  Thats fine.  I expect that after a reset.

2-The wired connection is still serving up dhcp address rather than acting as a client.

So, I am unable to access the web interface to reconfigure.

Ironic that I now am able to remember my password.

Any suggestions how to really make the device factory defaults?  Holding the reset button until all lights go out/flash does not work.  Cycling power shortly after a reset does not work.

Thank you for your help

I am having a similar problem. The device has lost its connection to my wireless router. I have connected it to a wired ethernet cable and still no luck. I cannot not access the web interface. I have tried several times to reset the device to factory defaults and just start over, but the device will not reset. I press the button for 10, 30, 120... seconds and device will not reset, the lights will not turn off and on, no blinking, nothing happens.

Had the same problem with 2 of 3 DPR-1260's. Turns out that reset (button) keeps the unit in DHCP mode, not back to static 192.168.0.10 as it should. I ran Wireshark (formerly Ethereal) on the eth0 interface on which the DPR1260 was connected by direct wire. After the unit tries to get an address it seems to eventually settle on 169.254.29.137 !!! By then setting eth0 to 169.254.29.1 I could log into the unit, set the static IP back to     where it was,  etc. Not sure whether the default address is always the same, so you might want to run Wireshark to make sure (or perhaps plug wire straight into your router and hope that a recognizable address is assigned). Once you're in you can set wireless etc. (also update firmware to latest).

Cheers,

Arthur

Thanks, that works with me...

Same default IP 169.254.29.137 after the reset...  i test this in 3 units of DPR-1260 ver A3, all with the same default IP...
