dir 615 ipv6
« on: October 14, 2011, 03:02:17 AM »

Hi,
 Ihave a dlink dir 615 "ipv6 ready".
My internet provider givetome a native ipv6 /48.
I configure the router with my ipv6 /48 adresse the internal propagation of the adresse is good. On the status ipv6 page all seems ok marked "connected" but I can't have an ipv6real connection and my provider say to me that i am not connected.

Is there a known probleme of connection between an public /48 and the internal /64 and if so could it be corrected.

I thank you in advance.

This thread was posted on the wrong board and was subsequently moved to the D-Link Wireless N > DIR-615 board.

Hi,

I have read on the ipv6ready.org conformance tests spécifications that problems may appear when the wan size of adresse is lower from 60. And I have a /48.pages 27 : "IA_PD as a hint is omitted"

Could you confirm or deny and can I have an idea of how many time for a correction ?
Of course I chose "static address" for the ipv6 configuration.

Many thanks for your answer.

Pierre Léonard.

I would send Patrick533 a PM and see if he can help you on this. Not sure if I can answer this question. What region of the world are you in?

Hi Furry, actually my ISP does not have IPV 6 going but by reading the above question. I thought they went with /64 for even at home(it appears not!).

Being the OP is one of the first adopters, I would look more for an IPV 6 forum, the only testing I have done is internal to my house. Anything more then that and I am guessing.

At this time I am only IPV 6 ready, once they give me an address we will see how ready I am. I have played with 4-6 and it passes and has access.

The only thing that sticks out to me is can he change his internal to a /48 so there is no translation issues?

Sorry I could not be of more help.

I answered my own question, it looks like the D-Link firmware is /64 only for internal.

What happens when the router is set to IPV6 automatic? (only a guess). Does the terminal/cable modem/dsl modem support IPV 6?

Hi evebody,

To answer to FurryNutz, Iam from France.

By reading you I feel that there is a problem between so diferrent prefix wan /48 and lan /64 the specifications say that there is négociations. But anyway it could be long to get o correction.
I will see with my provider in order to get a /64, it's enough for a personnel usage ;)

Thanks, but the discussion can continue. And if someone can enter in the discussion  ?

Sincerely.

OK, it turns out my provider in the states does offer a 6RD connection, I got it running last night using Opendns for domain name resolution.

Mine gave me trouble doing a manual setup complaining about addreses but when I used the built in wizard it took the same info and worked great. This was with a Dir-825, not a 815.

But my address conversion and everything is seamless.

Are you running the latest EU firmware. My understanding regardless of the IPV6 address the router should handle it, mine did. The firmware is fluid for IPV6 and until more people use it, it will not get debugged.

Furry, you may want to PM him a way to escalate the problem.

Just looking, my 6rd connection is /32, but once is configured itself, /64 and /128 seem to be prevalent in the router.

May I ask who do you have as a ISP? If your not comfortable saying, I totally understand. I guess this is a question for both Patrick and Pierre.

Also, which hardware revision do you have? A1? A2? Should say next to the model number on the bar code. Also what firmware?

I have Charter cable in the LA area.

I am running a DIR-825 REV: B-1 F/W: 2.06

Played around with it somemore after I posted, I changed my DNS servers for IPV6

The only full support I got was with Facebook. When I say full support, Google has a IPV6 page, but as soon as you goto "I" google it redirects you to a IPV4 page. A lot of people were doing redirects.

Most of the true IPV6 was in the EU.

Either way it seems the 825 with 2.06 works fine thus far. I will have to try the WiFi side next and see if it serves up a wireless IPV6 address. Should be the same as the wired connection I am using. If you do a IPCONFIG /ALL, there are some MAJOR address strings.

The World IPV6 day test give me a 100% pass.....

Hi,

In France there is an ISP named Nerim, which provide native IPV6 connection since 2003.

I had a long discussion yesterday with the technical responsible, and the conclusion wasd that the routeur don't answer to the IPV6CP send by the ISP router.

It's conclusion was that the routeur dosn't support the IPV6 stack. That is strange because he had the gold IPV6ready logo.

I had an idea . I use a adsl V2+ modem connected with the dlink by an Ethernet. It's a naïve question : could be the ipv6 packets be stop by that modem configured as a bridge ?

Thank's in advance.

Need to check to see if the ISP DSL modem supports IPv6. I might venture to say that if not, then it's possible that the IPv6 packets are stopping at the modem. The 615 supports IPv6 from what I know. If it's got the UI option for it, it better.  ;)
