Printer Problem via Shareport
« on: October 19, 2011, 06:50:45 PM »

Hello.

I'm using Windows 7 64-bit. DGL-4500 Xtreme N. And a XM330 Canon All-Purpose Printer.

When I try to print an image or a webpage, my printer only prints the first 1/4 on one sheet and then the rest on a second sheet of paper. I'm using normal 8.5x11 paper.  I've been trying many page layouts in the printing options such as Normal-size, Borderless, Fit-to-Page, Scaled, etc. None of the options help.

For further testing, I unpluged the printer from the router, took the printer to my room, hooked up the printer directly onto my computer and printed. It worked perfectly. Everything was printed all out in one page.

Seems like an apparent spooling problem... Is there anyway to fix this?

I contacted Canon's support at the same time. I got their message.
They basically told me the printer wasn't design as a network printer. I'd have to either use it for "Printer Sharing" via my computer or buy their $100 Print Server device for my printer. Lame...

Same problem here!  Windows 7 32bit, Brother HL-2040.  Bought router today because of USB port and only get about 1/3 of a page when I print.  >:(  Contacted customer support will post the response.  Will plan to return next week and get the Linksys if not resolved.

Same deal here with a Brother HL-1230 laser printer. Works fine when connected to my PC but prints partial pages though Shareport on a DIR-655. Don't hold your breath waiting for D-Link to even acknowledge that the problem exists. This forum has been in perpetual BETA status with next to no moderation.  ::)

I now have this same problem with my HP Office Jet 6110. Prints a full page then prints about 10 lines of the page again on a second page. ? ? ? Funny thing is that it worked fine up until yesterday. But, if I plug the printer directly into a standard USB port, it works fine. Sorry to hear that D-Link is not responding to customer problems. Shame on them.

What router do you have?
What FW is currently loaded?
What version of Shareport are you using?
Any 3rd party security software running like firewall?
What OS are you running SP on?

Check the USB cable to make sure its in good working condition.
What do you have connected to the SP on the router?
What HW version is the router?
What FW is currently loaded on the router?
What version of Shareport are you using?
Any 3rd party security software running like firewall?

Try uninstalling the current version of SP and try this one?

The has been an issue for me, and other I believe for better part of two years....

I had been working with one of the DLink people (Sesca) here, but he/she seems to have gone away....

And the problem remains....  SO I switched to a little USB print server to get output....but gives up ink levels and such....
