Lose the ability to browse the NAS
« on: October 19, 2011, 08:37:50 PM »

After the NAS has been on for a while, I sometimes loses the ability to browse to it in Windows.  I have one machine running XP and another running Windows 7.  Both show the same symptoms.

If I open Windows Explorer and type the name of a location on the NAS (like "\\mydevice\myshare\myfolder") it works fine.  But if I open Explorer and navigate to "Entire Network -> Microsoft Windows Network -> WorkGroup", nothing else comes up.

This same browsing DOES work correctly right after the NAS is rebooted.  It's just some time later that the browsing disappears.  Browsing on other parts of my network (besides the NAS) still works correctly after that.

Any ideas?

I have exactly the same issue.  After many, many, many hours of trying to get this thing (grrrr) to work, i though I finally had, then the Windows PC's lost their network mappings, and would not reconnect until I restarted the NAS. I could still ping the drive, and see everything through the web interface. Interestingly, my Macbook had no issues.  (Firmware 2.02).

Any help is appreciated....
