WLSVC.exe memory leaks
« on: October 26, 2011, 09:21:58 PM »

Recently bought and installed DWA-130 revision E and the 5.10 drivers.  What a mistake buying anything from D-Link.  I should've known better.  The wireless config process AND the process WLSVC.EXE both have serious memory leaks.  The wireless config I just disabled and use XP's instead, but as I understand it WLSVC.EXE has something to do with a McAfee wireless security protocol; however, several attempts at Google searching yielded no real information on this process, what exactly it does, and how critical to your wireless security it really is.

After an hour or two of running, this process is consuming 200 MB of ram.  WOW, I know D-link sucks, but couldn't they have bothered to hire some half-decent code writers?  Or is McAfee to blame here?

ANY INFORMATION on this process would be great.  Are others experiencing the same issue?

You definitely want to bypass D-Link altogether and just install the adaptor using the Atheros drivers from the web and then use the windows zero configuration utility to manage the connection to the router.
