The trees in our neighbors back yard crossed two power lines and blew the fuse on the pole, and killed power to our house and my neighbors house. Anyway, after that my router stopped working. I can't log into the router settings page, and my laptop can't see the router. All the lights on the router are working. Some are blinking, and some are steady. So I know that the router isn't fried. I have no idea what's going on. We can't afford to buy a new one, so this forum is my last chance for help. Here's what I've done so far. I've unplugged it for a few minutes then plugged back in. Hit the reset on back. I'm just lost here. if anyone has any idea what might be going on please respond to this post. Thanks

Possibly a 30/30/30 reset. Google it!

But you need to download firmware for the router before you do that.

If not, furry or I can walk you through it. But some how, some way you need to get the proper firmware if the 30/30/30 works.

Before I give you the link, what hardware version are you running? Depending on the hardware in turn depends on the firmware you need.

If it was a full blown surge I would not expect to see any activity at all, no lights flashing, etc. Usually a fuse, capacitor or a regulator is going to be the first victim of a surge. But with a wall wart, hard to tell. I have seen brown outs kill the older computers back in the day. I guess it depends on how fast the spike was.

Being it had signs of some life, a 30/30 could not hurt before it hit the bin.....

Any chance to checking the voltage on the power adapter? If it's not reading anything then that a good place to start, the router might still be good. Keep us posted.
