Sometimes its really hard to troubleshoot through a forum. Different country, different kind of internet then I am used to, different kind of modem, etc. Glad you found some info though. It would make sense turning on DHCP would help, since the problem was with the PPPoE handshake I think. Just keep in mind though, having your modem set to DHCP will change how your internet works with games, email clients, P2P...anything that uses UPnP or outgoing ports. Either way, if it works, it works, and glad you found a remedy.
