DIR-825 Power Supply issue
« on: November 07, 2011, 12:14:17 PM »

I'm from Indonesia & we use 220V in here. I know that DIR-825 US version uses 120V.

If I buy DIR-825 from US & change the power supply (adapter) to 220V, can I use it in Indonesia 220V? Does anyone knows about this? Thanks.

It's possible to use the US unit on a 220v adapter if that adapter out puts the same DC voltage as the U.S. adapter. You'll have to check each adapter and verify that they out put the same out put voltage on the polarity is matches.

Ok, got it. So I have to find an adapter with the same DC voltage output as the US adapter. Thanks, appreciate your help.

It should be no problem finding an adapter to do 220, kind of suprised that it is not already "Universal".

I spec stuff for worldwide use and most stuff we find is 100VAC-240VAC 50/60Hz. Very few thing anymore are just 120Vac...... Maybe a cheap alarm clock! ;D

You just may need an adapter from US to Europlug. Sometimes the 50Hz can be a problem, but with a good switcher supply, 12VDC at 2AMPS(24 watt) is what is needed, quite common actually.
