Yes I agree the DLNA share need some work

I have a LG 55LN7600  ,  if I share movies using the Win7 media server,  when I go to "all movies" all the movies share through the computer are available.

However, movie files shared using the router media server are not available. I have to go directly into the connected device link to view them . In addition, if I try to fast forward a movie,  I get a invalid  file error.

Looks to me the router software could be update to meet standard connectivity for media streaming.

I also an ST600 and Samsung BLU-RAY,  I will check those to see if I also have problem

Yes something wonky going on with the media server.

On my Samsung BLURAY  BD-D5700  system can see the file directory, however when I go to play a file, it says loading for a long time,  then a codec error flashes  then it goes back to trying to load the file.

I know there is nothing wrong with the file as it will play just fine if I try to play it using the USB connector.  I also know there is nothing wrong with the wireless connection because NETFLIX streams HD movies just fine.

Hopefully an update will be forthcoming to fix this.   I still have to try my LG ST600, this device will basically play anything so if I get any kind of problem I will be very surprised.

Let see if doing some trouble shoot might help before we really call this a bug huh?
Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?

Some things to try:
Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.]Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.

Link>Wireless Installation Considerations
What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?

Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Use InSSIDer to find out.
Turn off WISH, and WPS under Advanced.

Try turning off Short GI, WLAN Partition, and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?    The original firmware

I read through all other messages on this router and I have seen you asked these question before,  so I have already tried all of this without any differences

Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.

What wireless modes are you using?   I am using mixed mode and tried both 20 mhz and 20/40 without any differences.

Any cordless house phones?  Yes
Any other WiFi routers in the area?  Yes  but the signals are weak

Try turning off Short GI, WLAN Partition, and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it.   I dont use those feature.

The router is at default settings with  WPA2/AES for security

Sure I will try the beta,   I already download it but did not want to use it until directed and I am located in Canada

Try setting a manual channel thats open and not used?  Tried that too , I am on channel 9  inSSIDDer reported nobody on that channel

Single mode make any differences?  nope.

I don't think it will hurt. I loaded beta soon after I got my 645. Running great however I don't use the DLNA features as my media is located on a server PC. I suppose I could do some testing and see what I come up with. Might have you give some details on what your using, set up and files and I'll see if I can replicate this with you.

Follow this process for updating FW using that beta version: FW Update Process

I recommend not reloading any saved configuration files initially, lets try configuring from a clean factory reset and see what happens. Of course set up WiFi and set for a Mixed G and N mode and a open manual channel.

Keep us posted.

Hi

I just updated to the beta firmware and no difference.

One thing I noticed, on my TV,   with the windows7 media share the name of the share device name and library name is displayed  .  for example,       laptop:movies

with the router , only the media library name is shown.

I could be wrong but it seems to me that the media share is not fullly implemented.  it is missing something.

Ok, I would contact DLink support, try Level 2. I'll forward this to my contact to notify them and see if they can provide any help here.

Hi

I called Tech and talked to someone at level 2 support.   It basically went they way I expected which is not very good.     I have sent an email to dlink support with screenshots.   Maybe they will understand better what the issue with.

Basically the answer I got was that because I was using a USB stick with no external power supply that it was the reason for the problem.

So are the media files your trying to access via the router on a USB stick? Or are the on a external USB drive with a power source?
