getting connection errors since using DD-WRT

Hi there,

I've got my DNS-320 connected to a Netgear WNR834bv2. I wasn't getting staggering download/upload speeds to it (either wifi or ethernet) and decided to try out DD-WRT for the Netgear as I'd heard it 'unleashes' routers, i.e. providing higher data throughput. I succesfully installed DD-WRT using the installation pointers here.

As for speed improvements I must say I haven't noticed any real improvements. There has been, however, one big NEGATIVE effect: when transfering bulk (like movies) from DNS-320 to my laptop (either wifi or ethernet) the connection is regularly killed after a few hundred MB's have been transferred. It won't *always* do this but most of the time it will. The DNS-320 is unresponsive on the network for about 30 seconds, then I can log into it again through the network. To me this seems like a reboot of the DNS-320 (but I may be mistaken).

Anyway..... does anyone have an idea why installing DD-WRT on my wireless router suddenly had this effect on file transfer from the DNS-320? I'm really curious what you have to say.

Does this happen when you're using Netgear firmware? And does the disconnection occur when you're not on wifi (using DD-WRT)?

Yes, the disconnect happens even when not in Wifi (experienced that yesterday). Also doesn't seem to have relation to using AFP or Telnet/SSH: it always happens. The disconnect wasn't happening when on the native Netgear firmware. I upgraded because I wasn't getting the throughput I was hoping for, thought DD-WRT would be faster.

Why don't you downgrade back to Netgear firmware just to confirm it not due to DD-WRT firmware.
