Where is D-link installed on my PC
« on: November 19, 2011, 06:26:00 PM »

Several months ago I installed D-Link's DIR 655 on my W7 x64 PC. Everything worked fine including NetFlix and being able to view photos located on my PC on my Sony TV. The TV is connected via wired Ethernet cable from the D-Link and I use my cable service signal from the router to the TV.

Then I had to reinstall my OS and although I can still view all the cable companies offerings, including NetFlix on the TV, I'm no longer able to see or view images located on my PC on the TV. I didn't change any of the wiring.

I tried reinstalling the D-Link CD but I can't find where it installs on my PC. It's not listed in the Device Manager or in Programs. I'm wanting to know what version of the D-Link driver I have and to be able to view photos and videos on my TV that are located in shared folders on my PC. I'm the only one who uses the PC.

The PC did retain my D-Link password.

Suggestion?

Thanks Kerry

Installed what? The only software I know of included on the CD is the toolbar and the Shareport program, neither which fit your description. As far as I know no software is needed, your computer just needs to be configured as a media server(available with most versions Vista, and almost all versions Windows 7), and your TV needs the ability to connect to that server. Perhaps your computer is configured different after re-installing the OS? Perhaps your newly install AV is blocking it? Unknown, but since you didn't change any settings on your router, I don't see how it could be a router issue. Wish you luck though.

Hi Hard Harry,

I think you're right. I don't remember any D-link control panel on my PC the first time.

How do I tell which driver version I have?

Thanks,

Kerry

Driver version of what? Your Network interface card? Or do you mean firmware?

I was confused. All's well now. The problem may have been that my PC's media folders had become unshared.

Thanks,
