The DNS-320 has been out for awhile, why hasn't there been a full firmware release as of yet?

Maybe you should not expect the service you would get with an high end NAS from a manufacturer solely aiming on NAS solutions.

When looking for an NAS wanted an inexpensive 2 disk NAS.
The DNS-320 was available for 80 euro's and an equal one of the 2 big NAS manufacturers cost the double for almost the same specs.

The only thing whats going wrong is apple making changes to their LION os so some applications don't work anymore for the mac users. But the beta firmware fixed that for a bigger part.

When you want more service, more functions, don't be a cheap one and pay a few hundred dollars for an (semi) pro nas.

i'm fine with the product, it does what it said in the description.

Cheap: this is ok. But even cheap products function well! This is not functioning. I have multiple issues with so called "stable" firmware, and with latest beta as well. "Cross site action detected", dissapeared file system and therefore data loss, etc. If dlink unable to make a cheap and operational product, they should stop distributing it.

I will never ever buy any dlink product, and I will make sure nobody from my friends will do so. I just shared this link on facebook.

No operational firmware, and no even an expected date when it is planned to be released. If you accept this situation (selling something called NAS which is not working at all) than go ahead and buy more!

I bought this crap because it had a competitive price, but I thought it is working fine. I spent hundreds of hours trying all known tricks, reading forums, contacting support, etc and I'm nowhere. This is not the first network device I tried to set up, but the first one which does not work as it should.

I choosed Dlink, thinking it is a premium quality vendor, but it is the worth I have dealed with.

PS: I hope I can sell this brick to some looser on ebay, and than buy a normal, operational NAS from another vendor.

Well, not sure if I'm the exception but I'm very happy with the purchase.
- Mounting shares from Windows and Macs works just fine
- Itunes app works fine
- FTP, no issues
- Speeds decent with a 10/100 router/switch using Tomato.

I do agree, this is not a high-end product but wanted an affordable home solution.

BTW, using firmware 2.0.

I am really sorry to hear some users have had really bad luck with the unit. For me it has been a positive experience.

I have to agree with franksetank.  For the price point I am pretty happy with it.  It fits my need as a managed NAS and provides DLNA service to my household.  It is not as fast as some of the competitiors but that is a trade off for the entry level model.  Once I transferred over all the files it is now not a big deal.

As far as firmware, I agree that perhaps another known stable version should of been rolled out by now on the D-Link website.  I used the upgrade of beta code (which I had to spend time finally finding it through this forum) and it fixed my issue. There is probably going to be an outrage of MAC users as they buy them for christmas and it does not work with their OS (D-LINK ---->>> Hint, HINT ).

and based on many consumer tests and reviews this is one of the best price/quality products in this range.
I suppose everyone complaining is a mac user?
cause some things didn't work at my mac also due to apple's new OS.

i got everything running now, just an update on ajaxplorer and iTunes and it is the best you can get for the prices.

I'm not happy at all but the price makes it a pretty buy. Also I wanted it as a network disk, and it works (Windows7).

I don't underestand why Dlink don't compromise with a date or publish some information about WHEN we will have a really stable firmware.

Right now, out of the box the NAS doesn't satisfy all the "Features" described at 2.00 stable firmware
- iTunes Server --> Doesn't work with last iTunes: Windows or Mac (downloaded a week ago)
- Samba --> Doesn't work with Lion (I will not flash a Beta Unsupported firmware!!!)
- FTP --> Doesn't work out of the lan (using another port different than 21)
- DLNA --> Sometimes the service goes down (¿This is an stable firmware?)

And much more!, Why a company can sell a product with a list of features that doesn't work out of the box?
Please DLINK. Don't ignore us, this is serious and can be a problem if all of us denounce you to our government authorities.

Also let me say that ECF and JavaLawer are not the target of our problem (they are working hard to provide information and improve the firmware), is Dlink who must compromise with a release date. Or at least with a official note about the future of this product.

These two above are common for major upgrades that were release around or after any firmware for any product/hardware. It is actually pretty common for most NAS as well as of matter of fact.
When it comes to any hardware/software/firmware remember, you can always go back but not forward. Until an upgrade is release 
Remember how many programs worked for W7 when it was release? How many hardware companies had drivers for W7? Very few did, it takes a while.


- FTP --> Doesn't work out of the lan (using another port different than 21)
FTP is 21, that is the standard protocol/TCP. There is nothing anyone can do for this. Now, whether I wish SCP or SFTP was supported, yes, I do, those run on 22 but then, are different protocols. Which I knew were not available before the purchased.

Now, I'm sure there are some valid issues/bugs, all hardware/software will always have them. But as customers, we should also understand what the limitations and industry standard are.

Sorry if my oppinion seems like I don't underestand that Dlink guys is working hard to update this hardware.
And also I underestad the issues related to new updates (mac Lion, iTunes.. etc), I just want to know if it will be resolved or not.

I'm not going to denounce or do nothing against Dlink, for sure.
For me, this product is enough for my needs right now.

But I just wanted to know the Real Position of Dlink about that, and also a real roadmap.
They answer with an official release. Nice! Official an Supported is enough for me.
Now keep it working, it's just that what we need.
