It seems to be a serious bug in DAP-1525 firmware 1.01. I use it in AP mode.
The MAC Address Filter list applies not only to wireless connection, but to Ethernet interface also (I use "uplink" port to connect it to router). When I set MAC Address Filter to “Turn MAC Filtering ON and ALLOW computers listed to access the network”, I cannot connect DAP-1525 through wired connection any more, it is only accessible from wireless devices (with manually configured IP settings), which MAC addresses are in list. DAP-1525 itself also cannot connect to external DHCP server to provide address to wireless devices. So to use MAC address filter I need to add MAC addresses of all interfaces of all my network equipment (PCs, router, etc.).

The MAC filtering artifact you describe is not a bug, but is rather how MAC filtering is implemented on many D-Link routers. Since the router owner typically has 100% control over wired network devices, limiting MAC filtering to wireless connections would make more sense for many users.

A work around for this would be including the router (gateway) mac address and any other mac that the wireless clients will need access to, in the list of exception.

I have this problem related with the MAC Filtering in the DAP-1525. I have one router (Linksys E4200) connected to internet through the WAN port and on the LAN ports I have a cable that goes to another room where I have a switch where I connect my DAP-1525 (AP-2.4Ghz Mode) and my desktop.

The problem is that when I put on the list all my wireless devices MAC Address and my desktop MAC address when I turned ON the Allow option, all wireless devices are disconnected righ away, and the only way to connect them again is to turn off the MAC filter. I think that this is a software bug.

The firmware verision is th 1.01. I don't know what is happening, and i need to have the MAC filtering ON.

Even after you set the DAP to allow and reboot the DAP, do the wireless clients recover the connection? I might be due to the DAP effecting the change and in some cases wired and wireless devices get disconnected due to the DAP having to restart internally to make the changes. This is by design on some routers and DAPs.

I agree, it makes little sense to have the MAC filter apply to anything other than wireless.

I'd like to see this as fix to the firmware in a future firmware release.

It would also be useful to be able to set which SSID the mac address can access. A suggestion for those options would be "wireless", "guest wireless", "both wireless", and if you still want to include wired in the restrictions, it could be an additional set of options that would be the same but +wired.

If the filter allowed more addresses in the list, then adding machines that would connect to the AP management interface via wired can be problematic.  The list is much smaller than even older Linksys AP devices, and the 1525 is much newer and higher-end than that.
