Upgrading from DFL-200 to DFL-160
« on: November 23, 2011, 07:11:37 AM »

Hi

I have upgraded my DFL-200 to a new DFL-160, but I get slow routing from WAN to LAN.

Un-routed from my ISP (verified speed) 70Mbs down/30Mbs up

Routed on DFL-200:
52.32Mbs down
24.27Mbs up
(Logical resault, since its suporting up to 50Mbs WAL to LAN routing)

DFL160:
55.35Mbs down
0.53Mbs (!) up
(Realy strange, since it supororts up to 70Mbs WAL to LAN routing)

Any idés regarding this?

Best Regards: Edvin

Thanks for the tip. I tried to find the optimal MTU-value according to the guid http://help.expedient.com/broadband/mtu_ping_test.shtml but it only told me that the optimized value should be 1500 (same as default).

I tried to lower it anyway to 1472, but that didnt change anything. Still same low WAN to LAN routing.

Try to find by ping -l maximum outgoing size and set this value

Hi danilovav, and thank you for showing intrest in my problem.

That was exactly wat I did when I followed the guide I linked in the previous post.
The highest value was 1472, and adding 28 to that will get you 1500 (the default value). I also tested setting 1472 on the DFL-160, but it didnt make any difference.

Problem solved after a call to the grate guys at D-Link Swedish technical support.

It was a known problem of the DFL-160, and was solved by disabling "all services" under "Outbound LAN trafic" and adding all ports under "custom trafic" instead.

remember, the dfl 160 is a soho product recommended to maximum 70 megabit of bandwidth without using UTM or VPN and in practice that numbers will be true by a fraction.

for that amount of bandwidth i will choose at least a  dfl 860e

What does the interface statistic show on the used interfaces?

Have you tried setting the unit up in a lab enviroment first to verify the thruput?
