I recently upgraded from DIR-655 to DIR-825, which connects about 20 wired/wireless devices, including 2 DAP-1522, media extenders, laptops, game consoles, WHS system, etc.  I've seen significant transfer speed increase in "n" devices at up to 140mbps which finally lets me stream HD tv programs without (less) stuttering.  Obviously, I'm very, very happy with the router.

Question I have is, would it make sense for me to connect the DIR-655 wired to DIR-825 and use it as a wireless access point, directing all wireless g device traffic, which is about 2/3 of the devices, to DIR-655 only and all n device traffic to DIR-825?  If yes, would this setup improve transfer rate between n devices and DIR-825?  Or, am I better off just directing all wireless traffic to DIR-825?  I would be using the DIR-655 anyway, since I could use the extra LAN ports, so I want to set up best way possible.

What i'd worry about is between the routers & access points, that you may run out of non-overlapping channels depending on your environment.  In the end if all four devices were transmitting simultaneously, you may not see the performance improvement you want.

If you have no neighbors and there are no other APs in your area then I'd say go for it, set the 655 (G) for channel 1, the 825 (n & auto 20/40) to 6, and the 1522s (n & auto 20/40) to 11. 

If there are other APs (say more than two, especially if they sit on channels 1, 6, or 11), then use the KISS method .. keep it simple stupid.

Connecting DIR-655 to DIR-825 as an AP was a breeze.  I've decided to direct all "g" traffic to 655 and all "n" traffic to 825, and all devices appear to be working fine.  I'm not sure whether there is any connection speed improvement or not by separating the traffic between the two routers, but I'm satisfied with this setup.
