Lad problems 7 Xbox360
« on: December 01, 2011, 12:06:55 PM »

Hi.
Do have big problems with layers when I play online via Xbox.

I've tried everything I can think of to get it to work optimally.

Have tried port forward with all 53 and 3074 and 88
And DZM.
Proven wireless and LAN. both are bad.
When I run through my DIR 655 with the sticky options.  When I test on the Xbox, there is no NAT problem.

What I am mega confused about is that the people I play against do NOT have lag, no matter if I host or not. So it must be my internet where there is some problems.

Have a 10 / 1 pass arrangement. Went down from 20 / 2

Help ?....

Need to use QoS to set up XBL port. Review the XBL sticky.
Let us know if you need help.

Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using teamviewer.

Does Enable DNS Relay be ON or OFF?

DNS relay should be ON. Advanced DNS Service should be OFF.
Make sure your xboxes are set up for Automatic in the networking section.

You need to set the XBOX for Automatic, there doesn't need to be any configurations done on the xbox. Only use Automatic.

Setup DNS and IP addresses on the router, not the xbox.

Actually looks like he is using OpenDNS on the Xbox. Sometimes it faster for the Xbox to query DNS through the router, with DNS relay on because the router will keep a DNS cache (so I am told) and there for doesn't have to query out to your local DNS obtained through DHCP. But if your local DNS is slow, or if you not accesses the same servers, but different random servers, then its not going to be in the cache anyway, and its faster do have your DNS hard coded in the console.

Long story short, if OpenDNS set as static DNS in the Xbox is faster, keep it. :-)

I would agree however I think testing out normal DNS processes first to see if he can get the entire system working first would be more prudent. Once he can establish XBL connections well then head off to configure custom DNS.

True. I was just saying I have experiance with my PS3 using static DNS and it works fine. Didn't want you to go on a wild goose chase when I think the problem is somewhere else.

By the way, when your setting a manual IP, what are the settings your using? Like for the IP, Gateway(Router), Subnet(Netmask)?
