Problem
« on: December 02, 2011, 12:19:25 AM »

Hi all,
I bought a DNS-325, and after the software update to version 1.2b03 no longer allows me the installation of the Add-On, it allows me to downgrade the firmware, let me just re-flash the firmware 1.2b03 , any other firmware downgrade tells me that the operation has failed and try again.
Do you know if it is a known problem and if solved?
Thanks for those who want to contribute to the resolution of the problem.

The latest version of the DNS-320 firmware also prevents regressing to an earlier firmware version. D-Link has indicated that this is a feature and not a bug.

Thanks for the quick and thorough response to the characteristic and not the problem, as regards the impossibility of installing add-ons in version 1.1, also this feature or problem?
Thanks again for your kind and prompt response earlier.

I presume you are using firmware version 1.02b03 (not 1.2b03). D-Link removed firmware version 1.02b03 from circulation this past October (for unstated reasons). The latest beta firmware publicly available is v1.02b01. The DNS-325 should support the addition of add-ons with either firmware version.

I realize this is not a definitive answer to your question, but is the best I can offer given the information you've provided.

... You are absolutely right, the version of firmware installed in fact is the 1.02b03, and I have a feeling that it's the retreat from Dlink for reasons not stated, probably because of no rigorous test of the whole operation, and also the rush to to release a firmware that supports 3TB drives, advanced formatting etc.etc.
For the moment, fortunately I do not have big problems to keep it without the add-on, because used only as a backup, there are big problems in the firmware for this function, which is why I did not give complete technical details, are in fact waiting for a 'but this time the other DNS 345, DNS-343 evolution, but I'm seriously thinking that maybe a little too much, having as many as 3 DNS-323 and DNS-343, except that here in Italy fortunately I find them cheap in chains provided a lot.
(Indeed, if interested I can provide links maybe to see if it really cheap!)

Thanks again for your kind response and good work.

D-Link has not indicated when the next beta release (or re-release) will be posted.  ???

If it's any consolation, just last week D-Link re-issued the beta firmware for the DNS-320, so hopefully the DNS-325 is next in their queue.
