No I think the screen IDea on routers has hard core IT netowork use and it is a good IDea only Dlink botched the job so horrible and by picking the wrong type of screen to use they made there idea useless.
in other words I posted this to hope dlink fixes there ideas and gets it right next time desgin and fucntion of the idea is everything.
1, to get into the browser based system i have to have my PC on or my android tablet or some other junk with a browser to look at it,
2, in the morning I don't want to screw with it i just want to look up and see blinking lights to make sure my download or network traffic is still flowing on to the right PCs on my way out the door . And or a good screen which these OLEDs are not since they do not stay on.
3 I use my netowork to connect a small Maya and 3d Render farm if I network trafic on the router stops I know my rendering job failed and I need to go see what is wrong or the other way around if I see tons of network traffic going when It should be doing something then I know something is up and I should go check.
The oled screen don't my help life even if the router is good its a step backwards for my uses.
And all dliks routers from now on should use the gamers lounge browser UI./ The browers UI on there other routers is junk and messy the gamers lounge UI pwns all other routers browser UIs so far except maybe the linux DD-WRT based ones.
and the so called faster cPU than standard models but who knows if it's still fast since this router is like 3 years old and dlink never says what speed the cpus in these things are it could be a slow CPU now and the standard ones have faster CPUS now.
I Was going to get the Dual band white one they got but the Browser UI was garbage, the 4500 pwned it in clean browser UI. to bad the dlink dont have 5ghz and 2.4ghz at the same time though.
http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=548So if dlink wants to do it right next put the leds back, get a better type of screen like a LED back lit LCD like the logitec keyboards use.
The 4300 was awsome and the dgl 4500 could have been prefect if they kept the LED lights of the 4300 and put in a real screen that could stay on.
Hell the LCD don't even have to be back lit it could use a old dot matrix gameboy LCD like my cordless phone uses and it would still be better than the OLEDS I don't care if its bright and looks good it's useless if it don't stay on.
its Like shipping a tV with out a remote nobody wants to walk over and change the channel and if the is one for games who wants to get up from there game to check and make sure they have not been discconected from network when something goes wrong, for all you know, it's a small hiccup and the game will turn back on when you get up.
If only they would have made it be like this one LED status lights and a Real SCreen that stayed on they would have almost router perfection. if they make a new 4600 model like that I Would buy it even if my 4500 is still working when it comes out.
