Some Questions/Concerns..
« on: December 06, 2011, 09:54:20 PM »

Hey guys, let me start off my by saying I'm glad I found this forum, hopefully you guys will be able to help me out a bit with some stuff..

I purchased the D-Link Dual Band Gigabit Router a few months back, and I didn't realize that it's not Mac-Compatible... I finally decided to attempt installing everything today and after it not working and google'ing some stuff, I found it has to installed using a PC..

Problem is I don't have a PC.. Are there any solutions for this problem?

Worse comes to worse I will borrow my friends laptop and set it all up there, but the problem is if I ever want to change my routers settings I will need his laptop to do it no? Or will I still be able to change router settings from my Macbook Pro if I didn't install the disk on this Macbook Pro?

Thanks in advance guys!

Cheers!

What are you installing for this router?

I have a MacBookPro and have used my 825 as a host router and not it's set up as an AP running off a DIR-655 host router.

All routers are compatible with any platform regardess. The networking technology is the same for all computer platforms, Mac, Linux or Windows. There are some differences however in general, all use the same networking technology to communicate.

The installation CD that came in the box, it says I must install the disk before plugging in my DIR-825 to internet/computer. When put the disk in my macbook and open the CD there is no DMG for me to open, only a bunch of .exe's which can't be opened.

You don't need the CD. You can configure the router using the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. PW is blank by default.

Review the Gaming and Gamefuel sticky for XBL. It works well.
