File share and permissions problem
« on: February 21, 2009, 09:07:46 PM »

I have a file share issue I cannot seem to resolve on my 323 with fw 1.04.
I have a small network W2k, WXP and Vista systems attached.
I have 1 group with RW access to folder A.
I have a shared folder B that everyone has RW access to including people with no defined user account on the dns 323.
Everyone can open all files except 1 user that is a defined user on the dns. (here I took a short break)
First we thot it was the fact he had WXP Home so we gave him a new machine with WXP Pro. (same problem) Now I need a nap!

As I have tried to trouble shoot this issue I found that if a non-defined user makes a change to a file on the DNS and saves the file..this 1 defined user no longer can access the file.
However the Vista system 'can' still access it and change the permissions back to allow all users to access the file once again. (very strange) Here I went for a smoke(I don't smoke)
Can anyone tell me that 'all' users having access to this device must be defined users for all this to work correctly?

On top of this problem...as I was making small changes to the group membership and user passwords..the 2 users with access to all folders now cannot access the shared folder at all. I get a message that 'the folder has moved or the user may not have permission to access the folder'.

At this point I left the room for a beer!
I would appreciate any help someone could offer...thnx

Can you attach a screenshot of your Network Access configuration?

For Example, my config:

You can use imageshack.com to host your screenshot.

Any option being used like oplocks or map archive? Have you tried any of the more recent firmware versions?
