Are you experiencing wireless restarts?
« on: February 23, 2009, 02:07:19 PM »

I'm just curious to see how widespread this issue is.  My log has quite a few of these messages, and the constant connection drops are getting annoying.  Firmware version doesn't matter, and I exchanged the router (going from HW A2 to HW A4 in the process) with no improvement.  No 2.4 GHz phones, either, or any other sources of 2.4 GHz interference that I am aware of or have control over.

So, log in to your DIR-655, click logs, hit control-F, and type "wireless restart."  Do you have any that weren't preceded by configuration changes (that should, presumably, restart the wireless)?  I am wondering if this isn't happening to more people than are aware of it because they haven't looked at the logs.

What purpose would that serve?

If the issue occurs you can see through the posts how you can solve it or go into 'diagnostic mode' in a thread.

There quite some relevant difference in hardware between A2/3 and A4 which rules out any comparison. There are other possibilities causing the wireless disconnects (such as network config or wireless devices), which seem to be the case here. I've been using A2 version without any problem with at least 5 wireless devices for a year. I've seen quite a few logs where the wireless devices initiate the disconnects though...

I am using HW version A3 and have not seen that with any software other than....

If you are using 1.21 with securepot and the router cannot reach the spam or filter server the router goes into cyclic reboots until it can see those routers again.

I started to notice this when I was restarting my cable modem or if I disconnected it from the router.

I went back to software 1.11 and that stopped that.

Neither does 1.21 cause these symptoms...
