   hey all ! i need SERIOUS help..  for some reason my PORT FORWARD fails for me. I'm trying to add the following :

Farcry2
port 9000 - 9004 
BOTH (udp/tcp)

even after several power reset .. the port tester site :  http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
says my port 9000, 9001, 9002, 9003, 9004 = CLOSED.

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.

Some things to try:
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find these under Status/Device Info/Wan section.
Turn off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.

cable modem = Toshiba PCX2500 standalone (no built-in router)
http://speedtest.net/ = ping: 12ms, DL: 9.85 mbps, UP: 49kbps

I've followed everything u said on "Some things to try". Somehow I can host farcry2 but the site that test  ports http://www.whatsmyip.org/port-scanner/      still reports 9000 - 9004 "CLOSED"

Have you also tried using Virtual Server as the forwarding? Might also need to set up QoS too. Can review the XBL sticky on using QoS and see if inputing the Farcry ports if that will open them up.

hi friend

i tried setting up the virtual server (needed to disable port forward) and also add info on Qos but still the same problem.  Attached below are screenshots of
1) port forward (disabled if virtual server is chosen)

are my entries correct ?   basically Farcry2 only need port 9000 - 9004 (both udp/tcp)

that http://www.whatsmyip.org/port-scanner/ always report CLOSE on port 9001 - 9004 !

I still have major problem opening port 9000-9004 (tcp/udp) for farcry2.

Once in a while it works but it times out and the port closes

Need to change the Remote IP address in QoS from 192.168.#.# From and To ranges to 0.0.0.0 and 255.255.255.255 or to ANY as a type of protocol.

Disable Dynamic Fragmentation.

Not to get you off track, but that 49k upload is going to really hurt you ability to host games.

Also, test the ports while the Farcry is running, see if they are open then.

Agree, I would recommend at least 1-2Mb UP if possible.
