When directly connected to the modem or router I receive anywhere from 30 to 50 Mbps DL speed. When connected wireless to the router network I only have 5-14 Mbps DL speed.

I used to use a different modem, but was prompted to upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.0 to solve my ongoing internet stability and speed issues. Speed and stability improved drastically when switched to the modem and connected directly to the router or modem; however, wireless speeds are worse and MUCH more unstable. Please help =(

What HW version is your router? C1
What FW version is currently loaded? 3.13NA

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL? Cox Digital Cable
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router? Stand alone modem.
What ISP Modem make and model do you have? Zoom DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem (Model: 5341)

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? For Primary DNS Address and Secondary they are being filled in with 0.0.0.0 . I'm not sure how to rectify this issue or what I should be placing here.
Turn off QoS options. Tried with and without and no difference. (I'm a gamer anyway)
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option. Off with no difference.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking. On, no differences.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. Done, no difference.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address. Yep, no difference.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP. Done, same.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. Done.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing. Done.

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Use InSSIDer to find out.
Turn off Short GI and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

Be aware that download and upload speeds will never be the same as the connected speeds or your internet speeds your playing for. Wireless is totally different and many variables inhibit wireless speeds from attaining the same as connected speeds or wired connections.

Thank you! I used to use WEP so that people could connect their old Nintendo DS to the net, but WPA2-Personal settings seemed to fix my issues as far as I can tell.

That was the last thing I would've thought to affect stability and speed. 24 Mbps seems like a much more realistic drop from 30-50.

Ya, unfortuneately WEP isn't the best however Sony seems to want to keep using it.
If you need WEP, what you might want to do he get a cheap AP device like a DAP or another WiFi AP and use that as a stand alone WiFI that uses only WEP. That way your DS devices still can access the WiFi while your other host router can maintain a WPA connection.
