Works great for days. Then....
« on: February 28, 2009, 06:23:54 AM »

So I have 121b11_beta02, and every once in a will the 655 just stops responding. I can use my Vonage still, but my PC doesn't see the 655. When I enter 192.168.1.1  -- I get nothing. I hit the rest button on the 655 and it works again, but I lose my wireless setting.

Any specific programs installed on your PC (proxy, IE7Pro etc.) that effect either network or browser?

I noticed the first post said that connecting to 192.168.1.1 was problematic but the screenshot indicated 192.168.0.1 was the site being accessed.  Just wanted to make sure that was a typo and not actual confusion as to where the router's management page is located.

I've had the same problem. I solved it by setting the wireless to a fixed channel, channel 1 works well for me since I'm the only one around my area that uses it. I also set the channel width to 20MHz.

There are also some settings in advanced wireless that help, like beacon period to 80, rts threshold to 2100 and fragmentation threshold to 2000.

Usually it's the wireless channel. EVERYTHING can affect it. I even heard that flouresant lights can affect it.

HOWEVER, I have noticed with good use of Windows Vista, that it would constantly drop the connection and NOTHING would restore it, other than restarting the computer. Even the "repair" option wouldn't work.

Damn microsoft. ehehe.

Saying that. Windows 7 is starting to do the same thing (almost) with me, only this time, I will have internet access wirelessly, but the wireless list indicates that I'm not connected to any access points. LOL.

So, I really don't know what's up with the Windows line of operating systems.
