I donīt know what "brick the camera" means.  If I "brick" the camera will it not work anymore?

Yes. "Brick" is a computer term meaning that the device no longer works and it's usefullness is reduced to that of a "brick" or "doorstop".

Not yet.  Since I have to do it wired, it will not be an easy job.  The camera cord is all fixed in the ceiling, so it is hard to get it off there (so that it is placed close to the router).

I'm trying to upload manually the new firmware but is not working.  I save the .zip file to my computer and when I try to upload it manually for upgrading, it says Invalid file! 
mydlink.com is not recognizing the camera because of this.  BTW, I'm connected via ethernet.
Any help please.
