Wan goes down when transferring files between pcs connected to the lan port.

It looks like it's running out of resources or something.  Passing more than 10GB of data to other pc is a pain in the ass because nobody else can access internet (lan and wireless clients).

Filled a support request in local dlink site. No response so far.

Model Dir-600 B2
Firmware 2.05

PS:  2 pcs transferring lan data... 3rd pc (doing nothing) can't access router config at 192.168.0.1

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.

Some things to try:
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find these under Status/Device Info/Wan section.
Turn off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.

Tested using Manual and Obtain Dns from ISP.

QoS Off and On. (anyway... this must be on, on my network)

Tried DNS relay disabled and enabled.

I Need DHCP working. I Won't try manual or reserved ips.

Devices are all getting their ip through DHCP.

No rules are present in Firewall settings.

uPnP and Multicast are Enabled.

Still the same thing... When transfering through lan, Internet light goes orange.
 
Why does using the lan port affects WAN???

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.

Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. I recommend CAT6 and the shorter the better if possible. I use a 1 footer. Swap cable between modem and router. Sometimes these in box cables are not make well.


Also there is Firmware 2.10ww for the DIR-600. If you choose to try, update the routers FW using the FW update sticky process in this forum.

DSL.
Built in Router.
Huawei HG520c. It's configured as Bridge (checked). I can dial from Windows if huawei is connected directly to a pc.

Cables Checked. Cat5e Cables are not long.

Flashed to firmware 2.11.

Now it's worser. Every connection is lost after transferring 1GB between pcs and it doesn't come back. Looks frozen.

Trying to ping the router got me a Destination unreachable, and ping time out. This on all machines.

Had to reboot the router.

The router works except when someone want to transfer an ISO or any large file to another pc.

I think it's hardware related. Dlink won't change my router for a new one.. even though I registered it last year.

Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. Setup/Networking.

Other option to try is to get a external Gb network switch. Connect the switch between the router and PCs.
I use a 24 port on the back of my router. Works great.

Router finally died today...
Frozen every 5 minutes (doing nothing heavy). I can't use it anymore.
I made no changes in config.
Reseting to factory defaults didn't work.
Had to reconfigure the huawey **** as router again and so far is working ok.

Does the router freeze if just one wired PC is connected to it with out it being connected to the host modem?
If it does not freeze then, there could be something else wrong.

Have you tried to reload firmware? There is a recovery mode for DIR routers.
How did you load the new FW. Did you follow the FW update sticky? After loading FW, did you reload a saved configuration file or just manually set it up from scratch. Sometimes older configuration files can effect how routers work after newer FW is loaded and is recommended to set up from scratch.

Have you called DLink and asked for an RMA?

Yes indeed, only one pc connected does freeze too. I did'nt try without internet, i'll check later.

I flashed firmware from recovery mode, I read the sticky before =) .

Setup always from scratch, never from saved config.

Theories:

Maybe the router "somehow" is overheating. It's summer here and temperatures are over 36ēC sometimes.

Maybe the power supply went bad.

I'll try to call D-link after doing some more testing at my friends place, who has a Dir-600 too.

I refuse to not know what's wrong with it.
