Why won't my settings stick?
« on: March 05, 2009, 09:54:17 AM »

I've been using my DGL4500 for about a year now.  I do not remember what firmware version it came with, but up to today I was running 1.13.

I have a rather elaborate home network.  I have several laptops, multiple gaming systems, web & ftp servers, IP cameras and more.  I used to create rules so if I accessed my home IP:port# it would take me to whatever device I intended to access.  I think it was around FW 1.13 where this stopped working...

Due to my laziness I just haven't worried about it until today.  In hopes that itw as just a buggy FW I upgraded to 1.15.  However, the issues persist.  Every time I try to create a port forwarding rule or gaming rule the GUI just reverts back to the login screen after ~5 seconds.  When I go back to look to see the rules the list is blank.

Any suggestions?  I like this router, and I know it's capable of doing what I want it to do.  Something changed [software] and is screwing me up!  Thanks in advance.

Yeah.. The 1.15 FW is buggy. when you configure your router you'll have to configure it from scratch. Perform a factory reset, re-flash firmware (you can try the beta firmware 1.16) and start entering the you port forward rules or virtual server.

Just so I understand you correctly, you're saying:

1) Do the factory reset via the botton in the rear of the router.
2) Through the GUI flash with 1.15 or 1.16b.
3) Input all my settings; do NOT load configs from backup file.

At this point the gaming & virtual server rules should work as intended?  I like to have things spelled out for me, and I have a couple users on the network who I cannot kick yet :)

Thanks!
