more about the switch part of this device
« on: March 06, 2009, 02:05:47 PM »

my experience shows that with 'other protocols' enabled, the switch seems to handle jumbo packets just fine, somewhere over 8k in size.

does anyone know how this switch deals with the 802.1p/802.1q header? does it just pass this along or get confused?

it would seem a switch could ignore them/pass them along if it doesn't honor them, since the two mac addresses are in front. but I'd like to have some confirmation...

likewise, does the gateway/router part at least know how to ignore them?

inquiring minds want to know!
