we purchased a new Toshiba laptop recently w/ win 7 OS and we cannot connect wireless to router using verified password. all other laptops, computers, LCD, etc. connect with no issue. we are using N response and WPA2 security settings. we have changed security from personal to auto with no success. we have also changed settings from tpik and aes - no success. we have verified the password several time to make sure and we also tried a friend's laptop running win 2000 OS and it connected perfectly with password. the strangest thing is that we managed to connect the new Toshiba wireless (secured) at our friend's house eliminating the thought of an issue with the laptop. we upgraded the firmware to the lastest version and that did not solve issue. the new laptop sees the network router and request password but, cannot authenticate to connect. any recommendations would be greatly appreciated in solving this mystery.

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.

Does the LT connect if you temporarily turn OFF WiFi security, open it up for a few.
Be sure you are connecting to the right SSID? Change the SSID name to be sure to something other than dlink. Could be another wifi router with this same name.

Update the LT wifi card drivers?

What does the LT wifi card support as far as modes? I presume it should support N. I would verify.
Set a single mode G and TPIK only and test.

One other thing you can try:
Turn off Short GI and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless. Might test out by disabling Wmm Enable too. Can always turn it back on too.

Keep us posted.

Does the Toshiba received an assigned IP address from the router?

the issue was related to an advance wireless router setting which did not allow other or new computer to log onto the network unless they have previous logged on. since the toshiba was new it did not allow it to log on to the network. once we unchoose the function -bingo!

however, thank you for all your assistance
