Ok, I'm back at it again.
I haven't been on these forums in a long time. I see there is an update in the Gaming/Gamefuel Xbox sticky.

I have mine setup practically the same as the sticky, excluding the new updated ports. I'm confused looking at the picture.

I have 2 xboxes. 1 wired, 1 wireless. I have all of my pc's, iphone, printer, etc. setup QoS/gamefuel with the 2 xboxes at priority 1 & 2. IP @ ***.***.*.196 & 197. Everything is using the Remote IP @ 0.0.0.0.-255.255.255.255 & Protocol/Ports @ 0/65535.

Here is my n00b/dumb question.

So, what is the port53 & port3074 in the pic? I'm confused.

You only need ports 53 and 3047 for XBL. Thats all the ports they use for gaming and voice.

Wait, I might be "getting it".

I have mine named as xbox 1 & xbox 2.

for example, xbox 1's IP ends in .196, xbox 2, ends in .197.

I need to set xbox 1 and 2's Local IP Range to .196 (thru).197
Priority 1 -xbox 1
Priorty 2 -xbox 2

Remote IP for both to 65.52.0.0 - 65.55.255.255

Protocol/Ports

xbox 1 -53/53
xbox 2 -3074/3074

So basically, because the IP range is thru a certain range, those 2 ports will work for both xbox's even though 53 is set to xbox 1 and 3074 is set to xbox 2.

Would it screw up anything if I set both to priority 1?

Oh, I forgot, I have xbox 2 using a linksys wireless adapter. Should I set the adapter's IP address up like I do the xbox's?

There ya go..ya I did that cuz there was alot of people asking to set up multiple xboxs. SO I found a way to use one rule per port then have the ranges set up for one or more xboxes.
Set priorities for both rules to 1.

I set up a general rule for all other devices to ensure that they get some bandwidth while gaming is going on.

Just set the IP address to what ever the xbox gets as an IP address.
Remember to reserve the IP addresses for everything ON the router.

Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using teamviewer.

If so, how would I do that with both of those ports just for the wireless adapter.

no shouldn't need to. Wireless adapter connected to the back of the xboxes? I presume these are old gen xboxes?

xbox 2 is an arcade version and yes, the wirless adapter plugs in the back of it via ethernet cable.

Just never knew if it was important because it has its own IP & mac address. Its not one of those little antenna thingies.

Hmm, never had any experience with one of those so I cant' tell if you need it in the rules or not. I don't thing so as the adapter is just passing traffic from the xbox to the router. The router should only be managing the xboxes. Theres not need for any other management of the adapter.

Ok, thanks. It a nice little unit but can be somewhat tricky to get it configured. It has a login ip page also so you can tweak the setting, etc. kinda like a router.

If it seems to make my husband lag (wireless), I'll just quickly set up the Local IP range to include it.

does it have any management options, I would turn those off as well, if there is any. You don't need any management of the data between the xbox and router. Don't put the wireless adapter in the rule. Will probably not work well.

Its been a while since I logged on its page. I don't think I have anything that really affects the gaming.  My husband complains of lag whether his xbox is hardwired or wireless. hahahaha! I've tried it both ways with same results. We do live "out in the county" & our connection isn't the greatest. Cable guy said we need a new Node? at the end of our street but our ISP isn't going to spend that kind of money to replace it just because our gaming isn't perfect. We are still "within the reasonable range" for speed/up/download, no packet loss, etc.

But I will check it out this weekend anyway.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged.


What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.

I use mixed mode since I still use an older laptop that use G.

seriously, I've even had the Supervisor from my local cable office tell me there is nothing wrong with our connection. Its just we always seem to be about a second behind the actual game in MP, whether its Halo 3, Reach and CoD MW3. Sometimes, its ok but we always have to work harder for a kill than others. lawd help us if we get anybody with a yellow/red bar. Some people that have great connections/host just seem to suck the life out of my connection and I can't get a kill no matter how hard I try.

I've just accepted this and either don't play often or play and stay pissed. I think I've squeezed as much juice from this router as I can. It does work pretty good but if there is any hope to get a little bit more, I'll try it. That's why I'm willing to try the 53/3074 port setup.

The 6120 is a great modem. I have that one and the next 2 follow ons. Works well if the modem is getting a good signal. One thing you can do is to make sure there isn't any T.V. cable line splitters on that line before going to the mdoem. Those will lower the signal going to the modem. Keep on the ISP for getting you good signal. You pay for it, and you deserve it. I have 50/2 here and love it. Up from 10/1.

See if you can use Mixed G and N modes or try again single G, and AES only. AES has best performance. You can turn off tthings like WPS, Short GI, and WISH. I would recommend if you can get the hubbys xbox on a wired connect to the 4500 would be better. I only recommend wireless for xbox if you can get a 2.4 or 5Ghz N only connection if wireless is the only option.

Lag will be seen in all games however it should not be a constant. 

Let us know and maybe we can review your router settings.

I thought port 53 was for DNS and port 88 UDP was for voice???
