I have tried much settings but it doesn’t work…..

My setup looks like this:

Host Name - domain name of server, e.g. mywebserver.org
Port - 21
User Name - my username for ftp service at mywebserver.org
Password - mypassword for ftp service at mywebserver.org
Path - /mycamerafolder/webpagename the target location at  mywebserver.org
Passive Mode - Yes

set Time Schedule as desired
be sure to click “Save Settings”
click “Test”

My setup to ftp into a USB stick attached to my WNDR3700 router were like this:

Host Name - LAN IP of server, e.g. 10.0.1.99
Port - 21
User Name - guest
Password - mypassword
Path - shares/PublicUSB (I had named a folder on the USB stick as "PublicUSB"
Passive Mode - Yes

set Time Schedule as desired
be sure to click “Save Settings”
click “Test”

I had all the time filled in ftp:// instead of only the IP number..........

Do you know if this can make filmshots/little movies?

I think the DLink software is for PC only, so no video stream capture for my Mac. And I don't think any 3rd party Mac software supports the DLinks.
But I am currently looking into how to adapt php slideshow software, to view a sequence of stills as a "video" ...

You people seem smarter than me so..
I am also trying to setup the ftp on the 932L camera.
I have read these post and i still cannot get it to work.
I also have a USB stick connected to a dgnd3700 Netgear router, i can see it with FTP on browser.

I have tried 198.162.0.1 as host IP (This is routers Ip Address) am i correct?
Port set to 21, i thought this does not matter as i am ftp'ing within my local LAN
username ad password tried as below.
1. user name as Guest , password as "password" , although have read in netgear docs that this can be anything as long as it has some characters.
2. user name as admin, password as router admin password.
Path as shares/
Also have tried with passive mode yes an no.

All i get is "Can not connect to FTP server." when i do a "ftp test"
If i leave out username and password i.e. blank i get "Testing....." forever.

What am i doing wrong?

I am having the same issue with FTP of motion captions to my Netgear R6300 router with an USB drive attached as the FTP Server. This worked fine on the replaced Linksys Cisco EA6500 however the Linksys had major wireless connection issues and was replaced with the netgear.

The server is configured not to require user/password for read/write.

If I provided a user / password I get cannot connect to FTP server response when testing the configuration.

If I leave user/password blank I loop in testing mode and a reboot of camera is required.

The motion e-mails work fine, the access to view live from smart phone is fine. I can drop to CMD and FTP to FTP name or IP with no issue!

I tried to configure ftp server to record images of dcs932l cam

i have linksys e3000 router.i have connected a usb stick to the usb port avaialble on the router.but there is no option to create username for ftpserver in router.

ANY body succesfully configured the ftpserver with same model router with dcs 932L cam for recording images,pl guide me in configuring.

iam failing every time when iam trying to configure.if iam leaving the username and password in dcs 93l ftp setup page,testing goes on forever without output,else it is displayed, "cannot connect to server /invalid UN & PW".
iam not sure wht mistake iam doing ,whether not properly configuring the ftp server on the router or  settings on the DCS 932l cam ftp server page

Sorry for the thread necro, but this topic is precisely where my issue is.

I have set up my DCS-932L and have played with the Advanced settings a bit.  I ensured the email notification element works, and even tried the Push notifications.  I'm still dialing in the settings to get to the right balance, but all that works fine.

Where I am hitting problems is with FTP.  I cannot get the settings to work with my provider.  The hosting I use has implemented Explicit TLS encryption on their FTP.  Can the camera support this?

What I have tried in the configuration is:

Hostname: mydomainname.com and IP addy equivalent.  No leading FTP:// etc
Port: 21 and another one my host provided for secure
Username: I have tried my own FTP credentials + two more my provider gave me to try out
Password: ditto
Path: /

The Test function takes about 1-2 minutes but seems to time out.  I always get "Can not connect to FTP server."

Any help would be appreciated.

What Mfr and model is the ISP modem and main host router?

If the ISP modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: Link>Double NAT and How NAT Works. Call the ISP and ask to see if the ISP modem can be bridged. To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged. If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.

I have my own cable modem and router - nothing was provided by the ISP.  I'll check my settings when I get home.

I have a router & a switch (both Dlink) but the switch is wired only so the camera is going through the router not the switch.
