Printer problem
« on: February 08, 2012, 12:39:34 AM »

Hi!

I have a "rather wierd" problem with my printer connected to the DNS-320... It works fine when i print small files like word documents and so on, but when i try to print a big PDF file (25 mb) it wont print, the printer says "Preparing print" but nothing happens (I have been waiting for 5 hours and still nothing... Is the file to big for the DNS-320 to handle? or is there some way to fix this?

I would say the file is to big. I believe the dlink spool directory uses the built in flash which I understand to be 128mb. Given that the OS also resides on the flash space will be limited.

Is it one single page? are you able to print one page at a time.

If this is something you need then maybe invest in a wireless print server. The print server feature on these cheaper NAS boxes really is very basic and if you google around you will see this issue not just limited to dlink (Netgear Stora has same issue).

yea, this was my fear... Unfortunately its just one page with a map.
So its not possible to divide it to separate pages...
I guess I have to connect it straight into the computer when i need to print these big files...:)
