DIR-615 B2 with 2.27RU Firmware
« on: February 12, 2012, 09:19:10 PM »

I flashed this firmware.

ftp://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DIR-615/Firmware/RevB/DIR615Bx_FW227RUB26Beta.bin

It works great.

It gives you AP mode.

And a much better QoS engine.

There are some other minor things added in.

Seeing as this firmware is a great improvement over others I was wondering if D-Link has a newer build that they never released?

Was just wondering if a Mod or maybe someone from D-Link reading this could look into it and let us know.

Nice thanks for letting us know how did you flash your router or any special instructions we need to follow and are you using a US DIR-615 B2 with 2.25 prior to the update and was the device flashed from the stock web interface firmware upgrade section since because I would interested in updating please keep us posted and update? I really wish and feel tempted to flash my DIR-615 B2 with 2.25 to the latest beta firmware 2.27 from D-Link Russia and it also looks like D-Link Russia is doing a good job in terms of keeping there customers happy after seeing the release notes they are very detailed with there findings in the release notes and have the intention of resolving the issues by issuing a beta firmware first on there ftp server and for a lot older B2 hardware revision this is simply promising because hardware revision E3 is already out there and also and I wish I could say the same or better for D-Link USA since it would be fair if all D-Link products sold are on treated with the same or better level in terms of firmware updates and quality come on D-Link what is the hold back and I also believe good support for these devices especially if not discontiuned/end of life models are critical to a good user and problem/issue free user experience and unfortunately I'm dealing right now with a buggy DIR-515 unforutunately it also got only a low two star rating from NewEgg buyers its a DIR-515 and since its a low priority/low end device with all of D-Links newest features and also being a green product it needs to be RMA and I have to pay for the expensive ground shipping on my end in exchange almost loosing money just paying for shipping for another refurbished but hopefully better router and due to its low volume/priority which I strong believe is not a good decision and for moving forward by not trying to discover/resolve these issue ASAP and avoid fixing the bugs in a timely manner oh and I forgot to mention guys there is still an WPS vulnerability out there and I am still waiting to see how D-Link fixes this promptly and takes its customers security seriously and not only "select only and high volume" models and please see Smallnetbuilder link below for more details:

There was a firmware to address the WPS vulnerability made available on D-Links world site.

http://www.dlinktw.com.tw/temp/dk2Support_Firmware/765/DIR615B2_FW227B01Beta01.bin

The 2.27RUb26 listed above was flashed using the normal update procedure and it works fine. And yes I upgraded from 2.25.

I was wondering when will D-Link fix the WPS vulnerability/exploit through a firmware update and address the WPS vulnerability/exploit because security needs to remain a top priority and concern through and also need listen to customers feedback on these forums and also address issues with older hardware revisions like B2 and E3 because they are not discontinued models/hardware revisions. This WPS Smallnetbuilder.com brought this up and see the article below:

Can I please get some clarification and better idea about when this WPS vulnerability will be fixed or addressed and I did see a topic about D-Link mentioning about the WPS Security Vulnerability and saw an article from smallnetbuilder.com on this issue but this is information from January 7th, 2012 and it says:

From Smallnetbuilder.com

"D-Link - This response came via D-Link's PR firm:

As you know, security is a top concern for D-Link and we are working with the Wi-Fi Alliance to ensure the security and performance of routers for customers. We should have an update next week and will be back in touch as soon as possible. "

So this was posted on January 7th, 2012 and its been more than a week and its now February so does any know of any other developements or updates integards to this WPS vulnerability and will all revisions (B,C and E)nthat are not discontinued receive this update?

Thanks

If your concerned about this, i would recommend calling your local DLink support office and ask them about this.

I did email a customer service manager at D-Link and simply the response was to provide a case study report to evalute the priority of action well I think online safety should always be a top priority

Dlink will post the fIx when they get it from the developers of the WPS service which is implimented in other mfrs products. Please turn Off the WPS feature if you are concerned about this problem and be patient until DLink releases thr fix for all effected products. Thank you.

I've been using the 2.27RU update for a while now. Is there any newer updates than this one?

I see there is a Build26Beta that looks like it was just posted sometime today on the RU ftp site.
